It's a good thing there is lots of law enforcement people in my world....when i get sentenced for killing the software idiots...I'll be a lifer...... just think, food, clothing, shelter .... internet, books.

Still not function well around here....good for weight control. Can't seem to eat and can't seem to keep it down when I do..... actually sleeping pretty well.

So 2 more businesses closed -- Hermie's --- and Nielsen Chev. GM must be really doing the number on it's dealers.

Another Monday . . . .

So, I'm here -- I actually left the building at 6:30 and returned shortly before 6..... slept in this morning.

The computer system nightmares continue -- still no functioning network but I think we have ruled out hardware issues. Moved everything to my old server (which I had stored in the closet) and reloaded, restored, and rebooted and the same damn problem resurfaced. So now have a zillion calls into software support. Them yahoo's need to fix the problem.

I keep reminding myself -- it could be worse, it could be worse. With no system at all yesterday afternoon I got a lot of sorting, stuffing, non computer things wrapped up. So it was good.

Diva's World

So, it was brought to my attention that I haven't been here lately. Too much work and not enough functioning computers in my world. My new desktop/workstation doesn't have email or any cool pictures on it -- I've been reduced to the "windows" wallpapers.

The network is still down but I'm able to work at my desk (the server was drug out of the "closet" and is now my really beefy workstation) -- there is now internet at the other desks and well the copier is still relocated to the middle of the lobby -- once a new end is attached to cable that will move back. So far I don't think I've lost any data -- that has been the only bright spot in this entire ordeal.

I am blessed -- dad has already been here and plowed my parking lot and Scot zipped by on his atv and did the sidewalks -- need to get him some treats. I had asked him earlier to ride my atv to gas station.....and fill (I don't think middle aged cpa's should be riding their atv's thru town) the tank. So I'm a lucky woman!

So back to the numbers!!!!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Okay, Diva is already pooping out for the week. I've got all of the software up and running (keep your fingers crossed) -- only 3 computers are functional -- dr lee will be fixing #4 and 5 today and fixing the cable that hooks the copier to the network. As much as I love my copier -- I love it a lot more when it's not sitting in the front lobby taking up space.

Katie was able to pull all of my emails from the "not friendly" with the network computer and place them on the current "friendly" with the network computer, so I have regained access to the outside world. She even pulled off the important documents (like my checkbook and journal)!

All this stress is good for one thing -- weight control --- to nervous to eat and no time for the grocery store.

(sign) (groan) (drip)

So this Diva had no computer system again. Another 6 hours of limited usage. It is not good. It's making me re-think the paperless commitment. My desktop unit went this time -- at least it doesn't talk to the network and it slows it all down to turtle speed. So I was working in the copy room and then moved things around (all while Lori was trying to clean) -- and of course software support does not answer telephones on Sundays. If I'm at work they should be at work.

I made it home by 8:00pm. So no Sunday laundry or ironing.

Since I lost all me email addresses -- feel free to email me. I'm going to have Katie try and pull them off -- without infecting everything else in the building. Ditto for my checkbook and a few other documents......

I'm turning gray .....

A Lot to Think About Today

This is the fall fiesta bra -- from the quilted bra auction.
Sunday at the office is getting old.

Quilted bra #3

This bra was named -- "the Hobby Lobby" bra -- i'm guessing there is a lot of hot glue holding this one together.....
Diva made to the office before 6:00am this morning -- I want to arrive before my favorite quilting show started on PBS. TPT must think we stitchers are early risers.

Wiped out Diva

Okay -- this is what Diva's desks look like when --- their server's crash during tax season. Actually I think it was software that made the server crash and a power serge (thank you) that made the software "hang" files in server world. But 7 hours later I actually had "stuff". My stress level was rising -- I only had one meltdown (needed 2 kleenex) while on the phone with Jon -- and the shakes for an hour.

The Crazy Quilted Bra

Yes, I have a whole weeks worth of quilted bras to share.....

Quilted Bra's

So, Robyn forward me an email full of pictures of "quilted bras" that were done as a cancer society fundraiser -- and behold -- a watermelon bra!!!
The quilted bra concept is giving me ideas .... our relay for life could use a little spicing up and this might just do the trick.
Diva is busy!!!!

Drip, drip, drip

So is the sound of the downspouts outside my window at the rained and it blew all night long. No ice left on the parking lot -- the large drift in the back yard is melting into the garage . . . the roof is leaking. I trekked in this morning at 5:30 -- between the wind and the rain, I didn't have much time to view the water in the ditches but I'm guessing they are full...I could see "whitecaps" while sitting in the drive up at McD's. Must have a McD's stop if I'm coming that early. Gotta love living in Minnesota.

It could be worse -- it could have snowed or froze. I chatted with Skylar via facebook (yes I'm addicted) and she ended walking home from class to townhouse (8 blocks downhill in Duluth) the journey was evidently entertaining -- it's good to be young!

This too shall pass. . . .

Quilt Week -- Feedsack Daisy

Another Rochester Quilt...

This one was also reproduction feed sacks -- beautiful applique -- and hand quilting --- hours and hours of hand quilting.

Rained all day -- hoping it doesn't turn to ice. I packed my pjs and pillow just in case.

Sunday Quilt

Sunday's Quilt is a raw edged machine applique. Fast and simple -- I've never been brave enough to try it on a bed / throw sized project -- but it's fast and fun. This particular quilt was constructed from reproduction feed sack prints.
Beautiful morning in the Valley -- sun, light winds and still melting snow.

Quilt Week ....

It just needs to be quilt's another quilt from the Rochester show last summer ... I think it's a variation of the "broken pickle dish" block.
Some day all my UFO's (unfinshed objects) will have cool names too.
Happy Sewing

Fireworks .....

The parade has just finished and the fireworks are mere minutes away. I'm ready my chair and my beverage await me. It was a beautiful night for the Winterfest Parade.

It has been a most entertaining day. Closed doors and opened doors.

Attitude Adjustment

Diva needs adjustment -- a sewing day would be nice.... somehow I don't think it's in my future. This quilt is from the 2008 Minn Quilters Show (Rochester June 2008) anyone care to quess how many pieces? It was fabulous. The top picture is a close up of one section.... I had it enlarged and framed ...

Como Park Conservatory

So the morning news is at the Como Park Conservatory. It looks warmer than here! Things be blooming, to bad tv doesn't have scent, I'm sure it smells like spring. I can still smell the scent of the greenhouse and it's been 25 years since I worked there. The reporter was commenting on the scent of the "stargazer" lily -- I thought I had a picture of mine -- last year it had 17 buds on two stalks.

On Nova (5:00am yesterday) they had the migration of the monarch butterfly -- I knew I had pictures from our last trek to the Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud -- 3 long years ago. Need to go more often.
It was the 38th day of sub zero mornings. Yes I'm still cold.

Scrapin' Action

So last week we had some parking lot action.....all scrapped down to the cement -- and over the weekend it melted clear. First time in a month --- I still managed to slip and stumble getting out of the car this morning. The wacky boots were the cause. He managed to scrape around Brian's care and not hit far he hasn't backed into or hit anything major. I think he's wiped out a mailbox or two on his township plowing gig --- but .....

Downtown Hooterville

Good Morning -- nice picture of downtown St. Peter in the Free Press this morning -- projects for the new Economic Stimulus Package --- I can see it now -- rip into downtown and watch the traffic nightmares. I'm guessing that's why the powers that be thought there needed to be additional parking on 3rd street. Although rumor thru the ever busy grapevine, told me that project has been scrubbed. Ya never know around here.
After two days of melting I can finally see my parking lot. I like looking out the window at my expensive cement! In my mad dash to Mkto Saturday night -- I didn't realize how little snow was left in the fields -- it had been blowing dirt and snow all week long. I've got to stop living like a mole (in the dark) all the time. Leave home in the dark, return in the dark -- most days my car goes from garage to garage.

the Seventh Day

This Diva actually left St. Peter yesterday. I made it to Mankato (that is unusual) -- supper and Office Maxx. Back to the Grandview Hilton and then back to work. Life is good. Back to work and ready for another day -- 41' yesterday was a taste of spring. I can see my new cement for the first time in a month!
My SuperBowl party is laundry and cleaning . . . so it goes.
