ahh -- day at the lake

down by the water
there's a song in there somewhere
must have my leash -- if I keep wandering

angry birds -- they keep nesting above the boat and well -- pooping on the boat/dock

and this happens when the young ones have the boat

if I behave I don't need my leash

never get tired of the view from our treehouse

finally friday .... eh

I think the endless week of busy-ness and whatnots is finally coming to a close.

I and the elders went and had birthday supper last night -- it was the official I'm "80" day -- Perkins (where else?) ... then I took them to Best Buy -- which only had 5 cars in their parking lot.  #1 had never been there.   hmmm.

Picked up a generic case for his new tablet and a stylus.  He's liking the challenge of the tablet and getting the hang of it pretty fast.

I was on a mission for a cheep laptop.  Mission accomplished -- almost done with the set up -- at least Office is loaded so I can use it at the lake for a couple of weekend projects.  Yes, working at the lake.  It will be raining.

The patch is completely planted -- the pre-emergence herbicide is down, the cut worm insecticide is down.  Just needs to "grow."  An inch of rain yesterday with 85' will get the seeds leaping out of the ground.

Happy Weekend.

David lived a short life, but it was a very good life. He filled his time with meaningful work and deep relationships. We will remember his intellect, his curiosity, his wisdom, his wry wit and quirky humor, his kindness, his humility, his faithfulness, his friendship and loyalty, his gift of listening attentively, and his empathy and love.

May this experience of loving and then losing David so soon create in us the desire to listen more patiently and show each other more kindness, more mercy, and more love.

David’s confirmation verse: Revelation 2:10 "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life."

I cannot fathom the pain of losing a child -- since the beginning of this discovery/drama/issue/disappearance -- I think most of us have shared in his family's confusion/pain/grief/sadness.    All of us -- even those of us who are not acquainted with the family have been touched.  We all have much to learn --

   listen more patiently
   show more kindness
   more mercy
   more love ...

cherish your family and loved ones -- we never know what's around the next corner in our crazy lives .......

You only turn 80 once!

The birthday bash went off without a hitch!  Or if there was a blip -- it was unknown to me .....

It was good to see family, friends and neighbors -- we had a crowd!

The fabulous kitchen crew keep the food / treats / under control ..

The birthday boy was tired by the end of the day -- opened cards at home -- played with one of his gifts ... family friend Keith gave him a tablet -- Nick had it set up ... he was surfing the internet on it this morning ...

And of course, we had too much food - left over sandwiches going to the Kitchen for the Monday night supper .. cake is froze -- chips will keep ... veggies -- we'll be noshing all week ...

It was quite the weekend on the fitbit ...

1.  Friday planting/gardening = 14,000 steps
2.  Saturday planting/gardening = 15,000 steps (and I got to the cabin)
3.  Sunday party set up & the event = 12,000 steps ...

yep -- the fitbit meter was turning!

Friday, May 20, 2016

so it's finally Friday

been a long week of spinning my wheels and getting no where ....

I was extremely irritated with elder #1 last night -- so I came back to the office and actually managed to accomplish a couple of projects.  The deadlines of the week have come and gone ...

Planting was to have occurred last night -- but the tractor operator had other plans for yesterday and hmm the patch didn't get worked up .... hmmmm  he called a while ago -- it's done and awaits me....

but I have another of the endless meetings (over lunch) -- a haircut, more shopping for the birthday party, a retirement party for a retiring County employee and drugs to fetch from the pharmacy.  and oh -- the veggies for the birthday party -- need to be cleaned and bagged -- also the trail mix to blend up ...

probably the busiest week of my year ... and so far other than getting irritated with #1 ... I've actually held it together and not killed anyone (yet).

so the plan is to go to the meeting -- get the haircut, pick up the drugs, go plant the melons, at dark start cleaning the veggies and mix up the trail mix.  back out to plant at first light .... finish (???) .... take a shower and head to the cabin.

  damn, need some cabin time.

more wisdom from facebook (go figure) ...

so I'm off to two more meetings today ... a bit of office tossed in between -- one (possibly two) tomorrow ... haircut on Friday ...

1 meeting Monday
4 meetings yesterday

big birthday bash on Sunday ... we'll be ready - trying not to sweat the small stuff ... haircut will help.

still haven't planted a seed -- maybe some tonight ...

but -- life doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful ....  that's my storyline today and I'm sticking to it .

so ...

as rude as this seems ... it probably applies to our current slate of politicians and a few elected officials --

thanks to Jan for sending me the "pin"
the next picture is the reason I won't be purchasing a pair

it was a purge ... dang it looks bad
the dates on the camera are out of wack ... put this dude has been relocated - permanently.

today ...

we all need to put on our fancy skirts and dresses .... and dance (and twirl) and smile.

thank you, Lora -- for reminding me that dancing and twirling are important.

  miss you

continuing on the deep

thinking (or over thinking) frame of mind ....

I had a shot while at the clinic the other day ... tetinus/diphtheria/whooping cough -- and I've been sick ever since.

the dripping nose started an hour post-stabbing so I'm not going to blame the cold/sinus/crap on it ... but the headache / nausea / achy arm .... it's all about the shot.

a rough day of choices yesterday -- well rough might not be the proper adjective -- difficult / disturbing / surreal

I think we all tend to forget we need to be accountable for our choices in this life we lead

There are consequences

And those consequences might lead to other choices

It's a revolving door of accountability and lately I've experienced way to much of the extremes to "not my problem" to "I made the decision on my own" ... it would be a much better world if we all worked together.

mornings on 3rd street

well, mornings in my 3rd street neighborhood ...

one of us always rolls out her trash at the last minute (I) ... makes a lot of noise dragging it thru the door -- tripping across the parking lot to the curb ....

Karen starts arrange the racks at her Garden Center -- generally by 6:30 -- then she starts watering --

there's always a car or two left on the street from the events at the bar -- strangers and stragglers wander in to retrieve them -- not sure if they are early risers or just don't want others to know that their wheels spent the night at the bar .....

Jim finishing his walk -- newspaper in hand ... headed for the coffee pot in his office.

drippy rain this morning -- birds seem to be quieter than normal.

2 more weeks of school so 2 more weeks of the 7;30 - &:45 rush hour ... yep, it's a 15 minute rush hour -- 'tis the reason I don't handle city traffic very well -- I like it this way.

the lost is found ... sort of

I'm going to link this up to Crazy Mom
because I haven't sewed a thing in months
but I love checking out what everyone else has created!
quilt on!!!!

it was the Scrap Shacks Spring Crafting Event -- I finally took some time away from the office ... I was on official "head gopher duty" ... need lots of labor to pull off any event.
I left the office at 2:00 pm yesterday ... rolled into bed at 11:00 (ya, late) .. back to the church by 7:00 am .. lots of prepping, table moving, kp duty, trash duty and a spot or two of sewing ...

I really didn't know what I was going to work on ... I literally thru a layer cake, a jelly roll and handfuls from my scrap bin into a tub ....  good planning makes for a productive weekend.  tossing fabric in a tub is not good planning.
so I chopped a layer cake in half (mojito - very bright/cheery)
mixed the halves in a bag and sewed unmatched back together
squared to 9 1/2 inch blocks
added a strip from the jelly roll ...
and sewed the odd sized blocks into rows
it's a 7 x 6 layout
notice the goof ... it's there ..
and it really really needs a good pressing -- I took my traveling iron and pressing pad soo....
I have enough of the jelly roll left to make a strippy crib quilt ....
time for a shower and foot massage ....

Happy Wednesday

I am most grateful it is Wednesday -- my week has been a touch out of control and today was equally wild.  I'm not exactly sure what I may have accomplished.  Time will tell
The good news -- the F150 is ready to be picked up.  It has been at the Ford dealership in Le Sueur for a week -- awaiting it's diagnosis and the parts to arrive.  Something about a throttle cable attached to the gas pedal that chats with a sensor that controls the computer .....  her next stop is the south end of town for some alignment and tire issues. I'm hoping she lasts another 11 years and 70,000 miles.  Prayers are welcome.

I found the perfect tiara -- now I need a matching tutu and shoes.
keep dreaming -- there will never be a tutu on this body.
the end.
Rest and Relaxation is forecasted for the weekend -- or at least part of it.  A spot of sewing with the scrapbooking divas at the Vatican.  Yep, turning Catholic for 36 hours ... only 36 hours.
Next week there will be a spot of time spent at the cabin -- miss that cabin.  There is nothing better than a house in the trees overlooking the lake -- got to get there soon.

tutu and tiara

good grief -- I'm in desperate need of attitude adjustment -- in addition to the tutu and tiara -- I need a magic wand to wave away all the weird (weird) stuff accumulating in my world.   Might just need to go purchase a wand ... hmmm where does one purchase a magic fairy wand ...
