 brought home a tote bag of files this evening and after a cup of veggie beef soup (and a special K bar) I headed to the cave to work ... things went well

so it is me, myself  and I  and other than a couple of phone calls

after the race started on Friday -- 

I dashed to New Ulm for a County gig -- made a pit stop in Nicollet for beer sticks at Schmidts

 .. a pit stop for lunch  ... 

ate said lunch -- and 30 minutes later .. got sick ... 'twas a weird one 

home and slept it off ..

back to a full day at the office on Saturday 

early am start and NCHS annual meeting ...

me and tote of homework finally got back to the farm

took a camera walk for fresh air ...

Mom overwinters her gerbera daisies in the porch ... like 9 pots of them ....

space heaters keep it at 50' ... sometimes they even bloom 

sliding off the shop roof -- lets hope the chimney can handle it 

sliding off the machine shed roof -- motor home about to get snowed on ..

I followed the path out and 1/2 across the field ..other than this track and one snowmobile track .. there is only animal tracks

elder #1 is assuming more snow is on the way ... it's wider than a 4 lane road -- no wonder I sometimes drive on the grass ... who can tell what is the road and what is the grass

and we're off ....

I'm off to New Ulm this morning for a meeting -- oh joy -- bad roads, meetings out of town and tax season all in one day -- my challenge today is learning to embrace the nasty ...

we're ready for the race ( I think ) or we're ready to roll with the waves ...

Blizzard Day 2.5

ah -- Saturday's on Daisy Lane can be entertaining.

I managed to complete the tubs/totes/boxes of work -- the lack of distractions in the cave can be productive -- I did however traipse upstairs for coffee and food ... and while up there the wildlife was putting on quite the show.

this dang squirrel was ccoollldd ... you could see it shivering in the wind

it couldn't have been to cold -- an hour later it was still gorging at the bird feeder

elder #1 turned the jelly arm into a platform for winter -- the deer / turkeys were getting all the seed on the ground and now the tree rats have located it ...

yes, this is my Monday morning look --- nope, no how, no way ...

I did venture into the office with my stacks this morning (like 7:30am) ... most of the shoveling has been completed and I got the ATV out of the garage (she really didn't want to start at -5') and widened out the sidewalk ... tomorrow will finish shoveling ... 

need to find warmer gloves or a toasty set of mittens.

blizzard #1

I bailed from the office at 1:00 pm yesterday with 3 tote bags of work/supplies/stuff ... I'm heavy on stuff -- relocating my home office to the basement has been a work in progress.

My new stand up desk is still in the garage -- in the box -- maybe today I'll find some muscle and move it down the stairs -- 

the downside of the basement -- I can't see out -- which since it seems to be dark most of the time I work from home -- isn't a problem.  But it does feel like I'm working in a cave.  

A cave with a new computer -- jury's still out on the Windows 10 shit.  But I'm snug as a bug in a rug so I cannot complain.

homework

the dripping nose continues, the tiredness is at times a bit irritating, Mother Nature is throwing crap at us .. -20 windchill this evening -- warming up tomorrow and then a blast (literally) of snow 6 -10 is the forecast -- frankly I hope it lands somewhere else.  

I brought a tote bag of homework and I've worked thru some of it -- tomorrow will be the balance -- the W2's are almost complete, 1/4th of the 1099's are done -- will zip out another batch tomorrow, the payrolls are done :) ... so it must be time for bed.

I came down with the chills Friday night, the sniffles on Saturday and by Saturday night  -- the full blown crud so -- I missed most, if not all of the fun.  They texted me yesterday when brunch went into the oven and I went out and ate with them ... 

I did go to work both Saturday -- which people kept dropping in and interrupting my thought process and Sunday ( I kept the door locked) ... It was a productive weekend on 3rd Street -- 375 W2's are done and ready for the next step ... 

the printer and Windows10 had an issue -- but I conquered it!

on a lighter note:  an old client (old as in years of service) stopped in the office this morning --  I haven't seen them for 22 years -- it's all by mail.  I'm blessed with good customers.... it was good to see them ...

productivity ...

productivity - the art of getting shit done.  I had the entire building to myself for the entire weekend.  the introvert that I am - is in heaven .. I got stuff done.  lots of stuff.  even took time to pay my own bills -- sometimes that can be challenging (finding the time that is) ..

Saturday I started watching the Greatest British Baking Show on Netflix - what a hoot - kept me occupied for 9 hours.   Ya, it was actually 11 hours -- I went home at 7:30 ... today I was working by 8:30 ... home by 3:30 with homework (and this is not homework) -- today it was Building Alaska .. streaming via my iPad and DirectTV -- need to get that Amazon Firestick gizmo hooked up ...

Saturday on Third and I really don't want to be here ... really don't want to be here.  4 days into the new year and I already need a day off. 

I really need a lot of things -- but a day off is a good start.
