03/30/22 Crazyness

so yesterday I had a couple spots of crazyness

at 7:00 I sat down to peruse the headlines of the morning newspaper - in the front room in one of the comfy new chairs -- and fell asleep -- 30 minute naps are good

I attempted to dial the phone -- which the hex pad is opposite the calculator hex pad - I digress .. I was dialing the phone -- and couldn't find the "enter" button

and because it was the 24th anniversary of the tornado -- I listened to a recorded press conference by local legend Bruce -- a press conference post tornado ...

there may or may not have been a $25 pie bought from the Cheese and Pie Mongers .. french silk chocolate ... it was good -- but Jan and I decided the Sam's club pies are a bit lighter / less richer ... but it was good -- i'm not used to "real" whipped cream

enough with the sillyness
I'm old
I'm tired
I'm rambling

must be nap time

March musings ...

a few days before month end .. but here is my March ramblings
hoping April is sunny and warmer!

March 5th

just a couple of divas -- attempting a selfie -- actually I think we did pretty good --- mock neck hides my triple chins :) ...  I headed to the cave at 4:30 am .. two loads of laundry, tax returns, a shower and a spot of tidying the desk -- I'm ready for the inbound commute.

        March 6th

Ever notice when you start work at 4:00am ... the day kind of drags.  I need a nap by 10:00 or a shot of coffee, well more than one shot of coffee.

        March 7th

When you start your Monday at the grocery store and the self checkout is on the fritz ... and the cheep strawberries weren't out yet -- and they were out of gallon jugs of milk?  Weird shit weird world eh!

        March 9th

snagged this from wastebook today --seeemed to be appropriate ...
struggling with a spot of disorganized work

        March 11th

Well, I arrived home last night to find the cancer patient with less hair -- it/he started shedding yesterday and #2 cut off the remaining -- I'm not sure I'd let her near me with a scissors but ... the job got done -- treatment #3 was Wednesday -- he doesn't sleep well post chemo .. was up and got the paper before I left for the office this morning ( 5:30am) -- was a bit stiff and sore but "slept ok" ...  it's a learning curve peeps, we're learning as we go ...

        March 13th

all of my cheeters end up one one place
at least they're together

let the melting be quick

        March 17th

ah ... the big day -- I'm not the Queen so it's just another day in paradise.  Evidently one needs to be Irish and well, Catholic for that gig.

Oncology appointment was positive yesterday -- "marked improvement" .. chemo and/or infusion therapy seems to be making a difference -- shaved his head on Tuesday night.

I've been up since 3:30 .. greeted by an ugly racoon on the deck and then to the cave to work .. up and out the door by 5:15 .. lost and found my keys ... and here typing at 5:34 am ..  I live the life

        March 20th

My 10th day in a row of 4:00am (or earlier) starts -- truthfully, I thought I would be more tired than I am.  I do go down early, very early.

Mom and I took a drive out to the cabin this afternoon.  I bailed from the office with a tote bag of work at 3:30 .. back from the cabin by 4:30.  It is that close.  My "service engine soon" light came on on the drive home.  Not sure what's up with that -- it's always something with the wheels.  I've been driving Ruby since Friday .. well, the last 3 days, she's screaming for an oil change.

I'm optimistic that we'll get everything done.  Ben went home for spring break and we won't see him for at least a week - I tried to convince him to work -- alas Mom time instead

The cancer patient is feeling kinda crappy this weekend. Wed, Thursday and Friday were good -- yesterday, weak and achy -- better today ... he had a different brand of infusion therapy .. not sure if it was the issue ... hoping for better days ahead.

        March 23red

The cancer patient is struggling a bit -- chemo #5 today -- if it actually happens -- a different infusion drug was administered last week and it ( or the accumulation of things ) is kicking him ... and his patience is gone

Up and in the cave by 4:10 this morning -- the water softerner was still perculating -- but a load of laundry and a tote bag of work was completed ... shower and the inbound commute in the snow ... the SNOW .. what the hell -- I missed the forecast

        March 27th

yep, 27 days into the March shit show ... I think we're doing okay -- still not sure -- I would think after 27 tax seasons I would have a handle on the chaos.  We're starting to run out of things -- paper, envelopes, folders, sharpies, patience ... all the basics in life

I took this picture this morning .. today was my 14th 4:00 am or early start work time .. I'm waking up with out the assistance of the alarm anywhere between 3:00 - 3:15 ...on occasion I dwaddle and surf the internet before heading to the cave -- a couple of hours of work, a shower and then head to town .. I have drug home endless boxes/totes/bags of works and supplies ...

Jan beat me to the office yesterday -- both of us were here by 6:15 -- she left early to hang out with her new grandbaby ...  new grandbabies are a nice perk

toodles .. tick tock tick tock

damn, just when we think we have this cancer gig under control -- he goes down like a sinking rock.  when the fatigue, chills and aches hit they hit him hard .. today he went on a mini road trip to Winthrop to look at a boat ( no, he didn't buy it) ..  I hear movement upstairs will need to go up and investigate .. he struggled thru supper .. no energy to eat and ...

we'll get this figured out -- one way or another ..
warm weather will certainly help

        March 29th ...

Tornado day 24 years ago.  Seems like a lifetime ago.  The night I washed down 4 advil with a warm beer -- and elder #1 says to me --- "you know, we can't flush the toilet -- are you going to finish that beer" .. this was at 2:00am -- 7 hours post wind and I needed advil ...  we had no power no phones and I was crashing fast. --- I don't like beer -- it was the only thing I could find to drink that didn't involve opening the fridge or turning on the tap.

He recovered quite quickly from the chemo crash -- seemed pretty chipper last night.  and last night's quote -- "how did you get home -- where's your truck" ... evidently driving past the house and parking in the shed went unnoticed.

730 days of COVID

it all began with this blog post 730 days ago

 and  365 days ago

730 days

104 weeks

17,520 hours

wth

I always come back to this quote/wastebook snap
it resonates with me

730 days ago I wouldn't have had a clue on the effects/affects of COVID on me -- the constant upheaval, the ups and downs and constant chaos  -- it's aged me -- a lot -- I'm tired -- I will always be tired ..

so far we've dodged getting COVID -- we've been cautious, careful and well, extremely out of the public for 730 days .. it's not a healthy way to live -- it's hard ...

it's brought good people in my life --
the professional and personal challenges ..
and "everything will be okay" .. eventually -- in the end ..

we may control our paths in life but
in the end we don't get to choose
