 .. was the last day I was someone's employee ..

 .. kind of surreal 

 .. I was 33 ... and it the purchase of the practice was very quiet until that day ... I had worked there since I was 23 ... 

 .. almost 1/2 my life I've been self employed ...

 .. I brought a file tub of "records" -- my own up from the office basement -- every year one rotates in and out .. the 11 year old one gets shredded .. and recycled for the next year -- it was 2015's .. good grief even since 2015 we've come a long way -- and life is WE not ME ...

.. my software was $11,000 in 2015 -- it was $25,000 in 2025 .. I still had a mortgage back in 2015 - I had less help -- well, two of them are still here ... 

 .. I'm tired today -- a lot of running this week -- running and getting nothing done .. nada, not a damn thing .. today was annual physical -- I'm so predictable -- same weight, same height, same blood pressure .. that's the good thing .. 

 .. busy day at the farm -- the grain bins got tore down .. I missed the action -- busy with clients -- I always seem to be busy with clients ... it's pretty bare back there -- the crew did a nice job -- scared the cats :)  they seem to have scattered .. 

 .. I have homework -- I'm busy ignoring it ... next up is a load of laundry -- dishwasher is perking .. need to make my project lists for may ....

the longest wait time ever -- the HyVee pharmacy drive thru -- like seriously 1/2 hour today ... wth

today my secret stash of cash got doused by iced coffee 

I managed to dump a cup again today - - good coffee wasted twice

just another undefinable, hard to describe week in my boring weird life

M: adjuster/contractor for the roof

T: board stuff - busted out ruby

W: weird windy hot weather -- finally got the recycling out of my truck

R: dashed to Nicollet to pick up my trees -- got mom to an emergency dentist appointment -- infected gum next to the extracted tooth .  
     finalized the project details with the roofing contract $ 33,000 later a new "house" roof and new garage roof -- the garage roof is a rubber membrane thingy --garage roof not covered by storm damage but it was on my to do list of summer office projects

F: blood work, packet drop off, HRA gig and finally back to St Peter by 9:30 am .. it was fifty mile commute due to excessive road construction and ... the CHECK arrived from the insurance company for 1/2 the project

tonight --- 

I got the trees out of my truck and into water/watered 

Mowed parts of the freaking lawn -- so uneven so dry so need a soaking rain or two
Moved the golf cart to the front door .. wheels for mom

Took a brief, very brief ATV tour of the CRP .. 

    need to spend a lot of time up there cutting out cedar trees . they're moving in and need to move out

Laundry is perking as I type

In the meantime thru the above mentioned  chaos I tried to work and actually accomplish something.  Not very successful this week .. need to get that focus back and damn soon.

Back to work for projects tomorrow 

Birthday party for Miss Mara .. you only turn 1 once

and maybe -- if the stars align -- spend tomorrow night and part of Sunday at the cabin. 

need to get a lot of work done first.

so, I had a 4:00 haircut, picked up milk and cat bread at Kwik Trip -- that's a busy place at 5:00 pm -- fed the cats and hopped on the SxS and took a prairie cruise -- looking for the farmers -- fertilizer is down and the field is prepped for planting -- no equipment other than BB (brown betty, the truck) ... ate supper, took fast shower and then hopped in RUBY ... she's on the road ... a little later than normal and uff dah she needs a cleaning .. a serious cleaning inside and out ... and under the hood ... 

 

oh April

April has been a month of "stuff" ...

We made it thru the 15th  - barely, so many extended returns -- I stuck to my "no guarantee after 4/1" drop off drop dead deadline.  So a lot of extensions.

This week was one for the books:

Monday -- hail storm -- golf ball sized hail for 20 minutes at the office

    meeting w/adjuster on the upcoming Monday

Tuesday -- the sewer backed up in the basement - 

    literal shit show.  

Wednesday was the 15th and chaos always reigns

Thursday I had a TDS gig in Mankato and then proceeded to Menards

    how fast can one woman spend $220 -- fast

Friday - another hail storm -- I didn't even look out the window

Today - I went to call a client and didn't have a dial tone ...

    called my enemies at Consolidated -- and they did show up -- and then the kid proceeded to tell me there was something wonky in the phone box behind the liquor store ( really ) and he didn't know how long my phones or internet would be working - seriously I cannot make this shit up. 

    so I packed up homework -- and thought a change of pace in the cave would be good -- and I managed to leave most of it at the office -- evidently a higher power thought I needed to a) work less, b) sleep in or c) go to work tomorrow .. I'll at least sneak in and get the homework pile

    I had hoped to spend time at the cabin but it's 40' and cold -- really cold in the wind so -- we're home.  I managed to bond with the vacuum cleaner in the basement for 45 minutes .. there are less beetles and boxelders (dead and alive) in this house -- where do those buggers come from ... all winter long
