sunday amid the drips

the new favorite meal on daisy lane -- spam/pasta/califlower/broccoli/cucumber/cheese salad ( mayo dressing) and an open face sandwich -- bacon, cheese and kwik trips everything sourdough bread .. 

that bread makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich too ... 

I should be a food photographer this one turned out really well ..

after vac'ing out all 3 vehicles -- ugh, the truck was bad, booking spa appointments for two of them with the local auto beauticians -- some things are well worth the money, took the Jeep to the car wash -- where there was not line -- it was raining -- yes, I went to the car wash in the rain ....

we finally got to the lake and the plan was to eat and do nothing .. I did nothing ... other than wash our dishes .... we had salad, ice cream and snacks...

I let tiny diva have a sip of my caramel frappe last week -- she was hooked .. Saturday, it was my strawberry lemonade - hmmm aunties know beverages -- today she thought she could sneak out to the porch and have a sip --- hmmmm kind of hard to sneak when you're 13 months old ...

back to the grind tomorrow -- it might feel good after a weekend of endless projects ... the projects will continue this week .. it's never ending around here ... 

1    Weed whipping -- at both places
2    More tubs to plant ( need dirt ) and pots
3    Office garage needs to be tamed -- 
            there's a pile of dead electronics in it that need to be relocated
4    Basements at both places need serious cleaning 
            hoping for hot weather -- that will drive me to indoor projects

crazy morning around here -- when one phone rings the other one rings ... always good to have two calls at once .... and invariably caller #2 chews me out for not answering the phone

Wednesday -- Hump Day?

   zap -- right from cool / cold spring to the heat of summer in 72 hours --- I'm not sure I'm cut out for the swings in our weather ... 

   it was a crazy weekend of "stuff" ... 
Saturday before headed out to the lake I

1.  dumped a truck load of cardboard off at recycling
2.  stopped at the office for "stuff"
3.  Food Coop for Backeri Bakery Bread  -- and they didn't have any 
        got the good cookies instead
4.  HyVee -- $100 later 
5.  Garden Center for beautiful geraniums ( $300 worth)
6.  Kwik Trip for cat bread, donuts and milk 

home to load up the house -- we take way too much shit with us .. clothes, electronics, medical devices, food, food, garden stuff (geraniums), homework, snacks .. grateful it's only 10 miles away 

finally got out there --- and did the usual -- the www was fighting with my laptop and the tv .. so work kind of didn't happen as planned -- but other things got done 

I did have a mini trip on Sunday to Menards -- shower head .. cleaning stuff, more snacks and more garden goodies .. 

By Monday night -- home at the farm was looking pretty good -- evidently relaxing weekends are not meant to be ....

We did sneak out to the bison drive on Friday night -- somewhere I have pictures -- the bison were napping next to the road --- literally napping --- all of them -- it was a fun hour of watching large animals and adorable babies nap -- had a pit stop at Taco Johns for take out supper (ate in the truck) and home to a clean house .. it was cleaning lady day .. the house looked good and smelled even better ...

trying to be productive at the office with the short -- sort of quiet week -- trying ... we'll get there eventually ...

dripping Friday

old picture -- but accurate with the weather this morning  ... it is a wonderful slow dripping rain --- I shouldn't complain - but it is a cold damp rain ... I refuse to turn on the furnace at the office 

I have a nasty, just nasty case of the "i'm tired of working and really do not want to work any more this week" .. a nasty case of it ...

It's been the usual week of busyness and I have a project pile that still needs attention

The office roof ( and attached garage roof) were replaced -- the flying Wallenda's started on Wednesday and did some clean up finish up work Thursday afternoon evening -- it was a crew of 14, yes peeps 14 flying Wallenda's tied to the roof removing the old hail damaged shingles ... crap was flying off the roof !

Wednesday afternoon I had a HRA meeting in Lo North -- Thursday I had a TDS meeting - hilltop and then back to Lo No to sign checks .. and back to work for projects ..

Both Wed & Thurs night I was the lawn mowing Queen -- all of it -- literally all of the farm got touched by a lawn mower -- the dandelion fuzz is clogging up my sinus' .. 

I'm just pooped.  
Need a break. 

Really need Advil, coffee, blanket and a good book ... 

I'm settling for the advil, coffee and a left over donut.  

I will get my head on straight, quit carping and go to work ...

action shot -- loaded up the office lawnmower -- because I can never start the other one .. and mowed the lawn -- it doesn't take long ... 

it was a calm-ish 24 hours .. forgot my laptop and had to drive home to fetch it .. and after all that drama the internet was FLAKY all the time -- ALL THE TIME

I did manage to get the monitor arm and monitor installed on my "office" work table -- cooked a bit ... read a bit - napped all the good stuff

now we're sitting here wondering when the storm is going to hit and what's going to hit.

Saturday Sunrise

nothing beats a quiet sunrise -- finally got one -- it is restorative -- me, my laptop, coffee, fruit and the best cookie on earth.  this is an old pix but -- it was this morning's breakfast -- laundry # 2 perking along -- office window quilts -- the basement mighty mouse vac is waiting for me in the porch -- the "winter over" plants have been carried out .. the recycling is ready for the trek to town ... 

the truck is full of cardboard .. I've been musing the "lasagna" method of gardening for some zinnia plots in the yard -- so I haven't unloaded at recycling yet --- I have trees and shrubs to plant yet too ... the rain has not arrived .. 

I mowed in town yesterday --- prepping for the roofers on Wednesday ... and after a fast supper last night spent 3 hours mowing at home -- the grass is so awful it goes pretty fast .. everything around/near the house is mowed -- between the dandelion fuzz and creeping charlie blooms I've been sneezing a lot .. so no wood ticks yet -- might be a good sign.

   I lost my work mojo today -- seriously .. the place could have been bombed and I would not have cared ... needing some time off might cure that -- it doesn't look probable in the near future.   A lot of drama happening in the tax world.  We've all become a distrustful society.

   I had the best dentist appointment this morning!  in 60 minutes I had my teeth cleaned ( without numbing gel and without pain) an exam and I was back to the office -- no cavities and moving on with the crown on top of the implant!  finally.

   The only productivity today was -- swapping out my monitors -- I kept the new large one for myself and then turned monitor one 45' .. I like it, it will take some time to get acclimated but -- I can see a whole document without scrolling around .. 

   The evening plan was to mow the grass -- it wasn't raining when I got home -- raining at the office but not at home -- it started to rain 20 minutes into mowing.  So.be.it.   Rain is a good thing.   I also washed the truck and it's parked outside.

seriously Mother Nature

     I thought it was a bit chilly when I started prepping for the morning commute -- 

     Started the truck and ran the defrosters -- while I walked over to feed the starving cats.

     Those damn cats are going to be the end of life as I know it .. it's 1/2 hour a day of time I don't have --  and then there's the order/pick up the food issue .. and lately I seem to be feeding wildlife and cats.

     And then there is the visiting neighbor cat, TIM, -- Tim needs to return home -- and every little red/white kitten from his gene pool --- needs to go home with him.  Frankly, he needs surgery to remove the wandering body parts.

 

    I did stop and put the pretties in the garage on the way home from the lake yesterday -- there was a mini feast for lunch -- pork chops, baked potatoes, brussell sprouts, cantelope -- with ice cream for desert -- it was chilly out there too --- I pulled out the electric fire place to warm up the living room .. Mom read -- I worked -- just another normal day in our crazy life.

   And the last word on the Sam's club delivery --- the watermelon was way to over ripe for my fussy taste buds ... fed it to the deer .... other than that, I'm ready to do it again.

their mother posted on Instagram about her Sam's Club delivery --- yes, my friends, Sam's will deliver for free -- if you spend $50 or more ... well, $300 is coming to 3rd street between 9 and 11 am .. good thing the fridge is empty and somewhat clean ... 

imagine, not fighting for a clean cart, not buying stuff you don't need, avoiding the check out situation, not having to load and unload multiple times -- and that damn parking lot ... 

I'll try anything once ... 

so Miss L's gymnastics club was selling "flowers" ... well, potted plants -- I have 3 of the most gorgeous pots -- 2 colorful and a huge pot of red (real red) geraniums -- 

stay tuned -- we'll see how the Sam's delivery goes ...

projects, never ending projects

thursday, amid the chaos of doctor appointment and closed roads ... Dan and family arrived and took down the grain bins, chunked up the concrete floors and hauled it all away .. it was all done by the time I got home and out there ...

I might try a spot of gardening back there .. it gets more light than anywhere else in the yard -- but the nearest water is 500' away ... and then there is those damn deer ....

no work saturday

 

I'm on the laptop so the pictures options are slim --

I didn't go to work today -- at least I haven't worked today -- I did stop in on the trek home from the happy place and picked up some "homework" for tomorrow morning.  I have managed however to spend $100 at two grocery stores -- is Kwik Trip a grocery store .. milk, bread, eggs and donuts are groceries in my mind.  HyVee had deals again .. I went to fetch my prescriptions and spent $85 .. cheep burger and 6 lbs of strawberries for $6 .. seemed like a deal ... and there might have been a spot of 1/2 price old Navy .. argh.  cheep t shirts and a cut denim vest!

laundry happened -- a jeep load of crap to the lake 
bedroom buffed, bed made, started to vacuum the porch and started blowing breakers so .. stopped vacuuming -- evidently the space heater, tv and vac were drawing too much power on one circuit .. lesson learned

home to feed those damn cats and mow lawn -- everything has now been mowed at least once.  eyeing up the old bin site and thinking that might be a good garden space -- better dirt -- than the "garden" .. not a lot of access to water ( like none ) .. lots of sunlight back there .. and lots of deer .... need to think about it ...
