and on Monday

we sweated thru a couple changes of clothes -- holy humidity .. argh.  After supper I went out to water the trees -- the splashing water while schlepping buckets was welcoming ... now it will rain.  and I left the machine shed doors -- it just smells so musty in there -- needs air ..

I had a webinar today -- 8 hours of screen time on the first hot nasty day of the season, I should have stopped at the office last night and turned on the a/c ... I was surprised -- it cooled down pretty fast this morning .. once the stickyness is gone it's tolerable in there.

Webinar was a bust -- serious bust.  What a waste of time.  I did spend time deleting pins  and pintrest boards.  it was that boring.  cleaned my desk drawers.

Tomorrow is a new day --- 1st day of "closed" office -- I'll be there -- it's project week and I have a lonnnngggggg list of "to-do's"

edit to add pix:  I spied this one on wastebook last night ..

floating shit spreaders

I've seen the floating shit spreaders from a distance -- but this morning they landed on our weedy beach and they weren't eating the weeds .. I dropped my phone and they hopped back in the water and floated north ... it's a floatilla of them .. we spied them last night over in Gibb's yard ... they make a loop every day .

Unexpected couple of nights at the lake -- I (and Mom) came home yesterday -- I mowed for 5 hours and she did was she does .. I'm a bit sunburned from the mowing binge.  Normally I mow after supper -- I will have a nice lawnmower tan shortly.  It got done.

Truck got detailed this week -- she's black, shiny and looking good.

Officer Buss came home on Friday -- wonderful showing of "we care" welcome home from the community --- once the procession hit St Peter -- every fire truck from St. Peter, Cleveland and Le Center escorted the final twelve miles -- at one point there were 70 vehicles in the line up .. it was very emotional for every one --- grateful he's home

Thursday - I made the call to close the office for this week -- it's traditionally our quietest week -- end of Q2 and everyone is in "holiday mode."   I also need some quiet work time -- I have the endless list of projects ... and the basement needs to be cleaned.  Hazmat suit is optional.

Fun is also on the list for the week.

I'm doing it again

Saving a jillion quilt pictures of quilts I dream of making ....

how's this for a shot of color ... riot of color .. and curved pieces ...

Life has been extremely busy lately -- lots of time demands -- work, county stuff, home stuff all that stuff ... and then the drama of last week ... argh.  The wastebook post has had 3,500 views --

but a spot of calm arrives after today and I can't flipping wait !!!!!   Meeting(s) this morning ... mammogram/bone density test at 12:30, back to work and HAIRCUT later this afternoon ... and hopefully a nice steady rain shower ...

I've got inside plans for this evening ( when it's raining) :)  Tomorrow the truck get's a full detail ... it might be black again .

rough day

There's been a lot of emotions, here in St Peter the last 11 hours -- most of it - indirectly, in my neighborhood -- we used to farm the land in that housing development --

I am grateful for our law enforcement community - they do hard jobs that most of us can't do, won't do and take for granted -- and they do it every day ... and keep our communities, kids and peeps safe.
We are also blessed with first responders - they too get called out in the worst of times -- last night EMT's and the fire department were there to assist law enforcement ..
My prayers are with the wounded officer -- you put your life on the line daily -- and last night, well, last night was bad --
I also want to remind all of us to be sympathetic to the young man that died -- no matter what the back story or his actions -- he is someone's child, sibling, grandchild - he too has family that most likely are mourning -- we need to remember that -- and keep them in our prayers as well.
Social media is a wonderful platform to share information -- but let us all try our best to share accurate, truthful and non-speculative information ... let the professionals do their jobs and inform us of facts when said facts are available -- it's a crazy world - let us all work to keep it less crazy ...

I just posted this on wastebook on my Commissioner page .. as friend Keith commented life is rarely black and white and we need to be mindful of that ...

It was a rough night -- I heard sirens while I was putting the lawnmower away last night, clean up and went to bed -- and Jean called and told us to lock our doors and "shelter" .. I got on the laptop and the sheesh the ranting, gossiping, weird stuff was flying -- some dude was live streaming outside the townhouse --- LIVESTREAMING .. the fire department got called out for traffic control ... wth ... lets all go and watch someone's life fall apart ... seriously -- this is not TV ...

damn....

saving ideas

I spied this rustic barnwood side table on fbmarketplace ... I like it ....
I've been perusing tables/tv/fireplace stands for a while .. might need to design one and find a cabinetmaker -- well -- one is in the neighborhood ...

I like the barnwood -- but it's hard to clean .. keep clean .. you get the idea

collections

I've been collecting quilt pictures again -- the albums on all the devices are growing ... seems like a good thing to collect.  Lots of inspiration

amazing how solids can be so striking

scraps!  striped border!

Just another day in our crazy mixed up weird life.  Fast board meeting this morning -- back to the chaos of the office -- paying estimates electrically seems to throw everyone for a loop.  Seriously, I've done it both ways -- via direct pay and via my IRS account -- both are efficient and simple.

Finished the two massive payrolls for the week so it does feel like I should be on easy street for the balance of the work week -- not going to happen -- Union Neg tomorrow, dentist on Thursday and County stuff in NU on Friday morning - hoping for a quilt shop stop on the way out of town :)  time will tell ... I seriously don't need any more fabric but always like ideas ... the quilt show is this weekend with the crazyness I don't think I'll make it .. I'll be the idiot home mowing lawn instead ... I should be weed spraying too .. endless lists endless lists

uff da

I'm not sure which sentiment is the most appropriate description of the weekend ...

Saturday was fix work problems, grocery store, load up for the lake .... get to the lake and finish my book -- it was good -- #22 in the Longmire series ... kinda weird but a good read ... eat supper -- mom got sick ( the poo's)  took a pontoon ride while mom was recovering ( don't go there ) ... headed home and fed the cats.

During cat feeding I found 2 dead kittens - in the middle of the yard.  The general consensus is the racoon got them.  I haven't seen the other 3, their mother or baby buster since Friday morning -- and the food isn't getting ate ..  I think it was an owl, hawk or eagle.

Nick and Lee came down this morning and dug 15 holes for the pine trees -- and well, planted them too -- I followed up with watering -- and some weed whipping -- by the time we were done we were all drenched .. it was a sticky start to the day .. and then it started to rain ...

So since then, I've done laundry, attempted to work, read another book, ate to many bad things, cooked supper and started the dishwasher .. next up is set out my morning clothes, make mom's bed and well, take myself to bed .. the day will start all over in the morning ..

Hoping for less chaos and weirdness next week ... it's been an odd month or so ... seems to be the norm and I don't like it ..

this week is
1. R9 stuff
2. 1W1P - watershed planning
3. Board meeting/ditch meeting
4. HRA meeting/union
5. Dentist - final prep for the implant crown
6.  AMC - in New Ulm, Alix grad party
7.  Minn Quilt Show in St Cloud -- I don't think I'll have enough umph left by then ....

no words for my wacky life

after another 2 hours of lawn mowing, my shower ... etc ... from the recliner I look out the window and a freaking racoon is looking in ... it is NOT cut .. it is a rodent -- large rodent

20 hours of continuing education this week -- no wonder I'm tired and it really felt like nothing got done -- well it didn't .. except I mowed the lawn ... and chatted with a million people on the phone

says it all ...

a crappy week - improves

face it peeps -- it's been a crappy spring .. way to busy with weird stuff -- way to much drama everywhere in the world -- just goofy shit ...

today was Day 1 of my Farm/Ranch seminar and it was pretty good ... it started at 6:00am ... ya ... livestreaming from West Virginia at 6:00am .. done early

and at 4:30 ... a phone call -- my opponent for my County Board seat withdrew ...I have no opponent ... I should not be gloating -- I should not be happy dancing -- but I am .. I just wanted an uncontested race .. I hate campaigning .. I really hate it .. I'm too introverted ...

4 more ....

double argh Tuesday

my week of continuous continuing education continued today

2 hours of ethics .. followed by a 90 minute software demo ( I watched at home )

the news of the day -- candidate filing -- I kept it pretty quiet but I re-filed for my Commissioner Seat -- I'm 15 years into this gig ( seriously ) and thought 4 more would be good -- no one else filed for my seat until 20 minutes before the closing deadline for filing.  So I have competition.  It's okay, competition makes us all better at what we do -- I just really wanted a smooth, drama free, no competition election -- I love the gig -- everything about it - even the weird stuff -- but I HATE campaigning - I'm too introverted to be the flag waving, hate the opposition, name calling - vote for me candidate ..

that was a descriptive run-on sentence -- long story short -- I don't like campaigning -- even before our current political culture -- from day one of campaign one -- I don't like campaigning --

tomorrow is a new day -- with
another ethics gig -- AI and ethics -- this should be good ..... entertaining
and the campaigning will begin -- in my own kind fashion

I went out to feed the cats -- 3 kittens were in the cat shack -- 2 bright calico's and a grey/white blob .. evidently someone gave birth -- they are pretty good sized -- eyes open, hopping around and spitting at me ... lesson #1 -- don't hiss and spit at the fool feeding you ... we'll see if they are listening
