the black is too wide I'm going to narrow it down to 3" after I quilt it ...

my crazy life

so when life isn't as crazy as it normally is -- I am bored (or I get bored easily) and a post updates on here way to often.  Sorry --

so, I managed to find 10 cases of this stuff.  can you say obsessed?  that's 480 cups of it -- or 240 days at two a day ... let's hope by then I can wean my self from this addiction
it's a problem peeps, a big problem

here's a pre - tornado pre - ownership of this old house ... look at those trees in the front yard -- and now there are none!  perhaps my spring project is to plant a tree  -- looking at it again -- it might have been shortly (like days) after the tornado -- the blue tarps on the bar and the dumpsters out front ...

I did mange to de-weed, de-grapevine the space between me and the bar yesterday -- I have a huge pile to haul to the compost pile -- perhaps two loads and I managed to mow part of the lawn -- about 1/2 done -- ran out of fuel

I follow a group on facebook called "Northshore Tribe"  they always have fabulous pic's from Duluth and the shore -- one of my favorite places

need I say anymore!

just do it.

Feather Dan

so, below is a snapshot of Dan, Dan the cat, the famous Dan from Facebook.  Dan was a rescue cat who had issues -- lots of issues but a zillion facebook fans/followers/peeps.

Everyday Dan's humans posted a picture and daily blurb in the life of Dan.
Dan had a stroke this morning and gained his wings.

Fly high Dan, soar with the angels!

thanks for so many happy thoughts in our crazy mixed up goofy world
you never failed to make me smile

sewing binge week continues

the sewing binge continued with this layer cake -- nothing exciting here -- just whipped together.  I was going to use it as Dad's Christmas present but .... a comment on wastebook may send it to a cancer patient

And another layer cake -- why do I purchase these lovelies and then let them sit on the shelf and age????  again uncomplicated piecing and sewing -- the only goal was to make sure matching prints weren't next to each other ..

and the homebound commute -- I sewed at the scrap shack yesterday -- both tops were pieced between - 11 - 4:30 ... I was kind of jammed in a corner and had a table mate but it worked out well

Soon these journeys on the field road will end -- especially in Ruby -- Ruby's had a lot of miles lately -- this week it's oil changes -- and other winter prepping

today's agenda ....

1.  laundry

2.  pressing of the tops

3.  loading of the long arm (and quilting)

4.  sewing room and home office purging/tidy up

5.  Mankato
       a.  returns at Kohls / CJBanks
       b.  maybe a fabric store
       c.  lunch
       d.  Sam's Club or the grocery store
       e.  maybe a bison run?

6.  finish library book

7.  nap.

this week in pix (lots of pix -- sorry)

11/2/18 I linked this post up with Crazy Mom's finish it up Friday linky gig ... so I thought it wise to add a few details ..  happy weekend y'all

a throw I made for the makers fair --
it didn't sell - but I donated it to a silent auction

Go Gina Go!
(you can and you will)

mini #2

mini #3

mini's in their raw form
love these little "samples/snips"

#4
love this fabric line
debating about purchasing more

#5

#6
need to figure out what to do with these little jewels
later ... too much fun whipping them together

red wheels -- kind of liking it
it was kind of a birthday treat to me
it has almost 5,000 miles on it
a whole lot difference from the side by side ...
but it works!

and the critters seem to feel the need to cross the road in front of me
then stop and look at me.

monday night's query

so, I've got too much fabric -- all shapes and sizes -- I sat down at the Bernina while a load of laundry was perking in the washer .. picked up a mini charm pack

and now what to do with it ---
it's 12 x 14

and there is at least 10 more mini charm packs -- all colors -- I sometimes purchase them to demo out fabric before committing to yardage --

so I think this one is going to get a black 4" boarder and some cross hatch quilting and it will become a dust collector on a table/dresser or coffee table ...

tomorrow night I'll whip up another with the next load of laundry

mind you -- I've started with my tiniest pieces of fabric -- I could be playing with yards!  but instead these 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 and challenging me.

R & R Weekend

fall splendor has arrived on Daisy Lane --

I was trying to catch a pix of the falling leaves -- the maples in the front yard were raining down leaves this morning -- the soft maples have smaller leaves than Joyce's maple .. Joyce's maple is a royal red -- that has never had red leaves ...

It was a weekend of nothing -- well nothing important -- some closet purging and cleaning, a trip to deposit the closet purge at the thrift store, Bingo (ya), a bit of quilt dreaming, a family visit, a trip to the soybean field, Chinese food, TWO ATV rides!  And I was Nick's taxi Uber ride this evening ...

It's been a long time since I had a weekend of nothing -- I'm usually rushing here there and everywhere -- even during cabin season -- it's rare to do NOTHING.

My new iPod is loaded with tunes and I'm ready for Monday.
Bring it on .....

scenes from the week

County Commissioner Road Tour on Tuesday -- so these are clients ... working hard

Shot from the Commissioner Gig -- not working as hard as the clients ...
enough said.

Things I don't forget -- Uncle Georges Birthday -- hope the fishing, hunting and hockey in Heaven is better than here on Earth.

#1 peeling apples for pie -- he and #2 were baking apple pie for a bake sale

my "new to me" but well used ATV was delivered to me on Friday --- it's been a long time since I owned a traditional wheeler and 3 months since I sold the side x side -- when for a ride Friday afternoon to clear my head -- it was chilly and windy -- but it felt good!

oh Kraft Foods

oh shit!  my favorite iced coffee blend/instant mix got discontinued.  WTH!!!  there is more of this stuff flowing thru my veins than blood.  2 a day every day.

one packet
one cup of milk
one cup of ice

awesome goodness in a glass
it's better than McD's
it's less expensive than McD's
and I control the ingredients

Since Amazon and I became good friends -- I've been purchasing it by the CASE!!!!  8 cartons of 6 packets each -- 48 cups of goodness ... the local establishments do not carry it ... a few in Mankato --
yes, it probably isn't healthy -- but it gets milk into me

I've got a 5 case stash -- and I'm already into hoard mode
breakfast only ...
yikes

look out I'm gonna be crabby when my hoard stash is gone

Monday

the sun, the sun !!!

so, I sat down at the sewing table last night and was at a loss as to what to sew next.  I found some orphan blocks from a retreat day last fall --

I found I kit I had purchased last winter -- it will make a nice Christmas gift for Dad ---

I found a bunch of empty tubs :) ... small ones, large ones, and even medium ones.

So I went upstairs and did nothing.  Well watch TV and read a book.

My list for the week:

1.  deliver the donation items
2.  go thru and sort out tubs -- toss, donate, move
3.  nsgo thru the bookshelves and thin out the quilting selectio
4.  sort the summer clothes and purge
5.  bring down the winter garments
6.ort thru f  sabrics and make a pile of donation dresses

7.  finish technology seminar
8.  call the computer geeks
9.  rent out the apartment

10. office yard work
11. replant indoor plants
12. get a hair cut

13. take a day off - it's okay

10/14/18 scenes

and after the Maker Fair party

we donate, clean and gift ......

The truck is mostly unloaded -- except the rugs, tables & ladder ... they need to be delivered to their "homes."

The tubs were unloaded to the porch -- where I sorted into 4 piles --- donate (a large pile), gifts for family and friends (a growing pile), keep for me (!) and re-purpose.   The Hokie Pokies are having a bake/craft/silent auction fundraiser on Friday/Saturday -- a box and tub for them.  The warming tree has a tub of crib quilts and two bags of crochet scarves, "Dresses for Africa" has a box -- there's a new baby, a friend in the nursing home for healing, a guitar playing princess with a birthday -- all who need treats.

The Christmas gift pile has a tub -- get ready table runners, mug rugs and pillowcases will be in your stockings!   There were several favorite table runners -- keeping 'em.  Ditto the fancy crib quilts that I can use as window curtains at the office ....

The big seller -- pot holders -- seriously my fancy potholders made from scraps -- sold.  Table runners and fancy tissue packets -- none.

The downside -- I spent more than I sold !!! Pictures to follow -- some day ... first I need a break.

Not exactly sure how to take a break -- it seems like I'm always on the go --- but cabin season is done -- and since the white stuff arrived today (WTF) it was probably good we cleaned up and moved out last weekend.

My next sewing project awaits me -- not sure what it will be yet -- but I have a couple of crafty/retreat days coming up ... one is solely dedicated to Christmas cards ... and two for sewing --- I've been accumulating a lot of solids -- so I've been saving oodles of ideas on pintrest.

After that it's work -- all work ...

Maker Fair Saturday!

our rolling rack of goodness ...

I'm dimensionally challenged (nor can I spell) ... but when I signed up for this gig somehow I thought 10 x 10 would be a generous size.  Ha ha ahahahahah   We have oodles of stuff in our 10 x 10 space ... oodles upon oodles of goodness ... we moved tables and display pieces around a few times before we decided on this layout and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes again.  rolling with it ...

We're just "gonna have fun" today --

So far it is my lucky day!  My web cruising this morning discovered my favorite fleece pants back at Kohls and on sale!  Click, deliver them to my door please!  (insert grin) -- I wore the heck out of the 3 pairs I purchased last winter.  Warm, comfy, looks pretty good on -- washes and drys like a dream -- didn't fade, very little pilling ... what more can a busy Diva need!

Happy Saturday!!!

Maker Fair - Set Up Day

so today is set up day at the Maker Fair --- at 11:00 hordes of crafters will be arriving and whipping out their wares.  All crafters have been know to be zealots -- crazy crafters might be the best description.  I carried all the tubs of finished product into the porch Wednesday (per my list) .. elder #1 wondered what where and when -- he was kinda clueless to the Maker Fair -- I asked what he thought I did all summer at the cabin?   He thought I sat in lawn chair and read "just like your mother does" --- oh #1 the bernina's were buzzing.

-- last night he volunteers to help me unload the truck today -- "I have a 2 wheel cart" -- so dude -- you and the crazy crafters wouldn't get along --- I informed him that daugher #2 was also involved and there would be an additional vehicle of product -- I received an eye roll.   He was still in bed when I left this morning.

We had first frost Thursday morning and hard frost this morning.  Should kill a few critters!

no drama monday

I promised myself I'd quit whining/moaning/lamenting about the loss of cabin time until at least November.  But dang, I'd really like to spend my birthday out there at least ONCE :)

After yesterday's load out clean out --- I came to the office and mowed the grass -- lawn boy has retired ... I think he earned enough to purchase some computer game so ... think like a 13 year old....  anyway mowed in the mist ... it got done.  Went to the nursing home to visit DMK she's there for a bit of healing -- things are progressing and she's doing a lot of thinking.

I did finish the binding on one twin throw -- attached binding on the last one .. and cleaned the sewing room --- an hour with the vacuum does wonders ... tonight is scrubbing and finishing up binding on the last throw.  I have a timeline list ... good grief I've become one of those peeps.  A list for life.

  Maker Fair here we come!

the end

Jean and I closed up the happy place today -- I've been loading out most of the month of September -- last weekend (when the water was shut off) I packed up the groceries and paper goods, etc.  and today they got hauled home -- the remaining deck furniture and the grill are in -- the fridge is off and defrosted -- the floors are vacuumed and swept (no water no scrubbing) .. we walked down to the boathouse to check things out ...

The fall views are pretty.  The leaves are turning quick -- most of the boats are in and many of the docks are pulled in.

The view from my "now in storage" lawn chair."  I've been in this chair every Sunday morning since May 15th .. I already have w/drawl issues.   Agrh.  I'll now put my "big girl" panties on and quit whining.

Our shack on the hill -- see you on April 16th!  No snow and have the water turned on.

So summer is over -- back to working weekends in 2 1/2 months the days start to get longer !  I've decided December 21st -- the winter solstice should be a holiday -- I need my sunshine and daylight.

Well, I need a lot of things but starting out with more sunshine and daylight is probably a good request.

7 days to Maker Fair ....

my new favorite coffee mug

the last of the crib quilts -- now done and ready to tub up ... i did a wavy line quilting -- which actually takes longer (and uses more thread) than my usually loopy swirls and scrolls

I busted out last years left over dresses and skirts -- pressed them and re-priced them uber cheap!  If they don't sell they are going into the scrap bin -- and destined to be re-worked into something.

2 green tubs, 3 black tubs and 3 clear small cases of done!  and my fancy newer basement tv!

lists, my endless lists -- next step after posting this -- is make the final list

binding on a twin ... slowly -- ever so slowly -- and evidently -- in the darkness ... damn got to clean this sewing space ...

the last two -- binding and thread selected -- tomorrow morning and maybe monday morning
