Saturday's projects were productive:

Laundry - does it ever go away?

Office Garage - cleaned -- one more final sweeping and purging after this weeks trash pick up and it will be in pretty good shape.

Office Lawn - mowed -- all of it 

Farm Lawn - mowed, well, 95% of it mowed .. I need to float down the hill and mow at the bottom .. it was too wet for that adventure this morning.

We had a spot of lake time on Saturday .. and I'm out here typing away .. the internet has burped and I can't seem to get the tv back up and running .. it has a built in roku and it's not chatting with the modem even though it seems to see it .. I don't know.  

There is way to much techy crap in my world lately that seems to be falling apart.  I seem to be falling apart too.  Hoping for some time off over the Holiday .. time will tell.  

And on the flip side of life -- all roads are open except the 99 Bridge -- and 7 Mile Park .. river be dropping quite quickly and damage assessments seem to be rather tolerable. 

This weeks schedule :

Monday :  payroll, doctor appointments, computer geek 

Tuesday:  payroll, techy shit

Wednesday: payroll (see the theme)

Thursday/Friday: closed and on unplugged.

and now that I'm done whining about technology .. I'll go back to surfing the internet.

our trek to the cabin -- started on the field road -- across the field, up the hill, towards the tower to CR 20 . saved a couple of miles ..

CR 20 to CR 8 to 169 -- to the Fox Hollow exit thru downtown Le Sueur 

up the hill and east thru Hazard County

to Cleveland .. lots of Hazard County before Cleveland

Cleveland to cabin ...

and the cable dude arrived and we now have steady internet -- it's the little things in life

the homebound commute --

more of Hazard County to Blue Earth County to Hwy 14 (lots of road construction and lane restrictions) to Nic CR 13 -- to Hwy 99 - to CR 40 to CR 5 to CR 20 and back to the field road  and home

it was a trek -- the northbound to Le Sueur was shorter than the southbound to Mankato ..

169 has now opened between St Peter and Mankato .. but access to Hwy 14 is limited due to road construction .. 

.... and the internet is working ...

on yesterday's inbound I drove thru that ... shortly after that they closed the road they might have even been in the process -- there were no orange barrels so I hoped on it for the commute ..

at that point both northbound and southbound were in the southbound lanes (the ones to the right) 

it's eerie in downtown with no traffic .. actually blissfully quiet -- no rumbling semi's -- crossing the street is quite safe -- kids are cruising on bikes 

the noise, the traffic and the people will return - no eta on receding waters -- can't control it 

Mom and I are trekking to the cabin this afternoon -- meeting up with the www people -- finally getting that fixed -- the repair dude better show up if I'm driving 50 miles to get there .. 

the afternoon promises to be gorgeous -- I think I'm going to load up the office lawnmower too .. projects, never ending projects ...

the river is predicted to crest today ?  not sure ?  Hwy 22 S is open ... so .....

we are lucky -- it could be worse

we made it to Mankato for the pain clinic appointment - reset the settings on the gizmo .. made a pit stop at the Mall .. Rachael needed something at Hallmark and I dashed into Barnes and Noble for beverages .. ohhh how I've missed B & N -- will be going back soon (bridge permitting) and browsing ... one can never have too many books 

I also checked out my DRY office basement ..

the crazies continue -- County Board workshop that took way to long and accomplished nothing, well not nothing, but it damn near felt like nothing . . back to the office by 1:00 .. take out Chinese -- because it was Tuesday .. and then the endless telephone ringing .. weirdest calls all day long .. I finally at 4:00 made the decision I couldn't handle people and stopped answering it

Kate was gone this morning and the calls rolled to my cell phone -- weird messages about stuff out of my control/realm/give a shit meter.

Finally got home at 5:15 -- skipped supper -- and headed to the cave with my homework -- where I finally got something done.  FINALLY -- after all day of wheel spinning ..

well - I did get the trash to the curb!  and added the trash from home .. and the curbies made it back to the garage -- progress ... 

we're in a tornado watch and a flood warning at the same time

Father's Day

the lake is high again .. up a lot since Friday night -- 3" of rain .. and the predictions for the week are more and more and more rain -- Lee, Nick (and I a bit) moved it in about 7 feet .. it's a process and darn thing is heavy and doesn't roll very well

I have admit -- these holidays are rough - I thought they might get easier - last year I was numb .. this year -- I see the pix and realize how much he struggled the summer of 2022 .. in the middle of chemo, a new hip, a fall and the weirdness of cancer treatment ... he crafted new railings for the porch stairs and the stairs down to the lake -- I caught him taking pictures of them with his tablet .. .. post pictures - we loaded them up, ate supper and drove out to install them .. and he fell asleep in the truck on the way home -- he was exhausted .. just kept pushing to get things done .. I didn't realize that at the time .. 

so thin -- and wearing warm clothes on an August day ... 

I have a lot for which to be thankful/grateful 

the life lessons are with me 

I just need to learn to ask for help when it gets overwhelming ..

I'm not very good at asking

so today after yet another interruption (clients keep coming/calling even when we're closed), the cleaning lady was trying to clean around me ... I left -- me, the raspberries, cookies and keys ... before I left I did finish up a lot of shit -- mowed the grass and started pulling weeds ahead of the monsoon that is supposed to arrive tomorrow .. wth - summer weather forecasting is almost as drastic as winter events

got home, grabbed a pair of shorts, got mom, loaded supper fixings in a bag, filled my new mug gizmo with milk and ice and we headed to the cabin.  so far -- I've surfed the internet, downloaded a bunch of books to the kindle app, waved at the pontoons, made and ate a turkey sandwich and now I'm typing away.  it is life

I thought I had my week perfectly scheduled and under control -- alas crap happens .. 

Katie's mother in law passed away overnight and she needed to leave and then every person in Nicollet County felt the need to a) call me, b) walk in the office and chat and / or c) email me ... I just couldn't keep up ....

I was trying to get SRC's payroll done and it's always a messy challenge -- Wednesday is R9's bus tour gig and I was planning on going .. not any more --

at the stoplight on the homebound commute (at 7:00pm -- Tuesday -- June) I decided I just have to work until all the freaking projects get done.  just work.  just gotta work.  just get them done.  

so I went to the cave, started the laundry and prepped another 50 mnprs.  60 or so to go.

I'm not sure where the weekend went but it went fast ..

Today was  -- up at 5:00 and then I slept in the chair until 9:00 until some one woke me up and asked what the plans were ... back to lake after a stop at gyp foods for fruit, bread, cookies and well, $55 that fit in 2 bags .. 

the wind was brutal and we came home at 2:00ish .. 2 more hours of lawn mower time .. and an hour of weed wacking -- I'm tired and cranking .. planning my week is all I have left before bed.

 

and it's finally Saturday

Friday selfie .. I had a 8 hour webinar and thought wearing a dress was appropriate -- it's a really comfortable tank dress .. prison stripes . missing the feet and the flat sandals 

I always tidy desk drawers while the webinars are running ... all of these were in the same desk drawer.  I am now a hand lotion hoarder.  

and a little sunset shot from the happy place.  the webinar finished at 6:00pm (ya) so I grabbed Mom, McD's for supper and we headed to the cabin.  Ate, a little reading and then I started to "water" the newly planted grass seed -- I missed the memo about rain overnight / this morning.  It's currently dripping here.  The new grass seed has germinated -- it's coming --

Mom was watching something on TV and felt the need to stay until 10:00 -- we were rolling for home by 9:30 .. tv at the happy place .. argh.  multiple tv's.  

I got up at 4:30 this morning and started laundry -- the piles were heaping and I've got a few other indoor morning projects .. need to tame the bedroom and the porch.

The plan is to spend the day at the lake -- will be packing up the homework projects and the multiple computers too .. all the normal things in my crazy life.

1st time -- noonish at the office ....gotta love the noon hour rush honking at the old, tired, oversized woman mowing her office lawn in the rain.

2nd time -- 6:00 at the farm ... the wind was doing a fabulous job controlling the mosquitos ... until the large drops fell ... left the cc under the front maple tree and ate supper -- then proceeded to steam mop the kitchen dining room floor .. 

retreated to the cave for more property tax returns .... I've got most of them done and it feels good.

bed time is fast approaching.

yes, peeps, an entire xtra large insulated tumbler of milk -- tumbled down the basement stairs at 4:55 am this morning.  words were uttered

then out came the steam cleaner gizmo -- hadn't been out of the box yet -- said stairs might be cleaner -- and by 6:06 I was clean and out the door 

laundry basket, tablet, phone, cookie and tumbler of milk might have been too many things to attempt to carry down the  stairs at the same time

argh ... at least the stairs seem to be cleaner ....
