John Deere Green
So, elder #1 calls me at work yesterday (and that never happens) -- he found a 2 row John Deere planter on Craig's List --- wanted to know how to get a hold of the seller. Once I pointed out the phone number was listed .... evidently in the excitement of seeing one in Mankato he forgot to keep reading. So last night they drove down and bought it!!
Planting sweet corn and indian corn this weekend. Had the garden location discussion and it will be back behind the house. YaHoo .... 500 feet from the house -- a nice evening stroll. I really like it there. Now I'm off to find seed!
I did not win the powerball lottery last night so it appears I'll have to keep working. Saturday will be the 16th Anniversary of purchasing the "practice" -- time filies. Robyn and I found my old boxes of info in the basement -- including my evil calendars. I just gotta learn to shred and toss.

Over the hump day !!
So yesterday was Tuesday and I had the pleasure of chauffering Ya Sue to No Mankato for tractor parts? The best part -- she let me drive her PT Cruiser. Since I've got the urge/impluse/desire/itch to swap cars a PT was on my list of maybe. Well after the adventure last night (it took us a while to find the place) and the 30 mile trek -- I don't think I'd like a PT -- it's very different from my SUV --- on to the next one on my wish list. I'm willing to bet -- before I'm done I'll still be driving Bessie. Although, we Ya's looked pretty good cruising around in the little red PT -- and no we did not stop and ask for directions ....

Weekend Warrior . . .
so, I worked (both days) -- moved shelving to basement and started the purge pile in the basement -- (it's a heap -- hello shredder !). moved some more furniture. I actually crunched some numbers too --- and, Ta Dah ... I mowed the grass. It took a bit of finesse to make the lawn mower start -- the mechanic genes from elder #1 sometimes surface when needed -- a little strategically placed gasoline will make anything start and blow black smoke -- but the grass got cut.
it rained (a lot).
i finally got my pictures for the "Best of 2009" album printed, Walmart makes it simple (and inexpensive) although the local dude does a nicer job. I made it to Kohls (and yes, I bought more clothing) a huge bag and after discount and gift card it cost me $3, so. Ditto for Hancock fabrics on $7 --- it was a productive trip.
came back to work ---
and now i'm ready for monday and the wacky week ahead (IRS audit and invasion and it won't be pretty)

Decorating Diva (s) !
It was move the furniture / repurpose the spaces day on 3rd Street. Skylar and I got a lot done in a couple of hours. I'm thinking my back will take a couple of days to recooperate.
things to note -- the quilt hanging in the window. my summer project is to make them for every window. helps keep the drafts down in the winter ... and keep the bar gawkers from gawking !!!
Super Skylar taking a rest break with Nick (the animal) -- no we didn't empty the wine bottles -- I put out a request for empties for a yard art project -- a bottle tree.
okay don't you just love the shot with the vaccum cleaner in it .... I love the leaded glass window -- at first I had hoped for stained glass but the clear is like crystals in the afternoon sun.
So it went -- I didn't take pictures of the "kitchen" office but it too got a makeover --- less dramatic but equally entertaining. 17 boxes from the file room have been boxed and ready to relocate to shelving in the basement. Volunteers are welcome. Saturday 8:30 am.

TGIT . . .
a "layer cake" 40 -- 10" squares from one particular fabric line (sorry can't remember the name), it takes 20 plus borders and bindings to make a "window" quilt (check back tomorrow -- i'll take a snapshot of my first window quilt.)
and a "bali pop" -- 40 2 1/2 inch precut strips...
When the Friday Night Sew In rolls around I'll be ready ... actually every Friday has turned into sewing nights .. that's good. Uninterrupted time at the sewing machine is always fun.
Friday is a mere 3 hours away.....

so.....
No I have not planted nary a seed yet. This is MINNESOTA and it will freeze one more time before Mothers Day. Believe me IT WILL FREEZE.
Sorry I've been asked that question too many times today. I'm not wasting my seed and time just to watch them freeze. Last year I had 800 hills of stuff and there is not enough pots/milkjugs/blankets to cover seedlings when it FREEZES. There is no Federal Crop Insurance to cover any frost losses.
I watched some nutcase purchase 3 dozen tomato plants at the neighborhood garden center (Karen's Flowers -- my after lunch desert stop (everyday-literally)) and then whine when warned about frost.
So on a lighter note, I'm joining the Friday Night Sew In -- next one is May 21st ... keep watching and reading.

I Won .....
I am a lucky winner of a drawing on the bolt neighborhood blog ! I won fabric..... I responded to a post regarding Tax Day -- evidently they thought a tired CPA deserved a bit more fabric.
Gardening and quilting blogs are on my list of Sunday night reading. So, grab your beverage of choice and start reading the blogs. There are some really talented quilters (and gardeners) out there that have way more time than I.

Routines
I've been contemplating "normal" for a while and it's just not happening. Then again, what is or what should be normal. Coming to the office at 5:30am is not normal. Not home at night is not normal.
Lastly, no the mushroom is not real.
What more can I say.

so,
i went to work, finished up some projects, then headed to Mankato for some retail therapy -- since I've had ONE trip out of town in 4 1/2 months it was well earned. lots of pretty spring and summer clothes in the stores -- Barnes & Noble had some good deals, lunch was good and finally -- the ultimate in therapy -- JOANNE FABRICs .... where much to my surprise -- calico was 40% off, scrapbooking papers 50% off --
it's odd to be home at night -- so my closet cleaning gig has started ----
--- pile for the thrift store
--- pile of rags
--- pile of garbage
--- pile for ebay
so i've said it before and I'm vowing it again. i do not need any additional clothing. (undergarments, socks and shoes are exempt) .... the only clothing $$$ I'll spent (except the exempt) are my ebay sales!

the BIG DAY has ARRIVED ....
i added up my winter hours last night, 1,394.50 that's just plain obscene. so for fun numbers -- that means i've already worked 34.86 weeks so far this year or an average of 92.96 hours per week
no wonder i think my office needs a new paint job
less than one bottle of advil.
so far no computer issues.
let the normal begin !!

The party is about to begin
This DIVA has worked her last Sunday .... it's all over in 96 hours. I've been there a lot lately. Came home for supper -- went back -- finished up a couple of projects. The clock is ticking, although lots to do yet.
Cousin Ed drove my ATV home to the farm. I was able to take a spin/tour before supper. The prairie is coming alive. The grass has green up, the weeds are sprouting and things be blooming in the woods. Bloodroots are loving the morning sun.
Mere weeks until planting. I'm looking foward to it.

Oops...
so I'm a gabby blogger and you all get to know the stories of my life....it got weirder .....
finally made it home at 9:30 and sadly, I never left the office once I entered it at 5:45am....so it was a damn long day....got home, found the last piece of Easter cheesecake in the fridge...found fresh whip cream..... and
managed to drop it on the living room floor.....the 6 bites I consumed before it leapt out of my hand and smashed itself into the carpet were tasty. what didn't land on the floor, managed to smear down the front of the couch.
it's time for bed --- what more can I say.....well, I am fortunate -- it could have been worse although at this point I'm just not sure.

Blessings (Blessed)
okay not to be depressing (morbid) (whatever) ..... i spent a block of my day visiting with another client with a terminal illness.
moral of the story -- life is a gift and we need to enjoy every moment. even when we don't have many moments left.
i am blessed -- it has been the season of changes and wisdom . . .
10 days and 9 nights remaining.

S P R I N G !!!!
okay, I've I got a bit brutal with the hedge clippers and the deer decided the pussy willow was tasty -- this is one of the few remaining twigs... I was surprised to still see buds. The wild ones in the road ditch are already blown and starting to leaf.
rubarb....it's popping out
green grass and the camper is out of the shed -- ready for spring rains to wash away the winter dust.
it's hard to believe it's already April -- March just seemed to fly by.....things are greening up fast.

Rain
. . ever just stop and smell the rain.
I stood on the front stoop (at the office of course) and just took a moment to enjoy the smell of spring. It was nice.
. . turned off the furnace this morning and pulled down the plastic window kits from two windows, we needed air ... and it was fabulous
. . still working hard -- but i think the end is near.
