the latest addition to the family -- 20 new chicks ... laying hens to be precise ... elders did a run to Runnings in New Ulm to pick them up on Friday ... they seem to be adjusting well to the coop -- Avian flu is banned from this acreage. 

 



 

I tried out the sleep mode of the fitbit last night .... hmmm only slept 6 hours and was up 12 times?   explains a lot ......

 

Now the goofy thing needs to be charged ....

yes, I was suckered into purchasing a fitbit gizmo.  yesterday's lawn mowing and shopping finally put me over the edge on steps .. the goofy thing was buzzing on my wrist while in the dressing room trying on the "pants"

yesterday was Ruby's birthday -- so Mom and I took a small drive and ended up at the Mall -- I somehow managed to purge all of my khaki capri pants ...  must have been my day -- found them and found them on sale. 

finished #6 on Friday night and then played with fabric for an hour and then gridded out various strip blocks on an excel worksheet

   2 hours later -- it was 2 fillings and a temporary crown and in 2 weeks I get to do it all over again ... 2 more fillings and the new crown ... gold for the crown -- it's the very back molar and gold lasts longer than porcelain. 

   I'll be numb from the novacaine until sometime next week -- but, truly, I didn't feel a thing.  well, I felt the check I wrote ....



 

so it must be

time to plant ... everyone but me seems to be planting their garden.

me, well, I'm wallowing in a sea of paperwork -- the endless game of paperwork.

I did walk to the patch last night -- elder #1 planted 24 rows of corn -- I didn't ask what kind of corn ... but it's corn .... so it (the patch) got smaller ... that's okay ...

it rained overnight -- even better it's dang dry out there ...

Avian Flu

 

  has arrived in Nicollet County ... specifically -- my district of Nicollet County.  The local rag's blurb about it is here.  It's big bad stuff peeps.  14% of the total egg production in Minnesota is getting euthanized.

  science and research need to figure the why and how of this crap.  



Last Week ....

1.  pieced 5 crib tops
              (most were very simple)
2.  quilted
         orange/lime
         yellow/grey
         flannel
         navy/cream
         bold printed jelly roll       
3.  bound
         green/yellow throw
         orange/lime
         yellow/grey
         flannel
4.  mowed half the office lawn
5.  cleaned out the truck
6.  got the office cardboard recycling under control
7.  worked every day (or attempted to work)
8.  attended market kick off meeting


hmmm might explain why no cleaning or gardening got done eh!

I went back to the long arm last night and finished up on 2 more crib quilts -- will have 5 done for the relay-for-life silent auction

the rains came -- no hail -- now the grass will really grow.  I believe the patch is getting worked up and marked today ... let the planting begin .... slowly, as slow as an old out-of-shape/oversized body can go.

so this week
1.  2 more crib quilts to quilt
           green/lavender/cream floral
           khaki, red, blue (it's just butt ugly)
2.  bind #1 and the navy/cream  -- get delivered
3.  decide on the wedding gift quilt and get it cut out/start piecing

4.  plant the patch ...
5.  get the truck fixed
6.  buy a lawnmower and get that project done.
7.  spray weeds at the office.
