oh Mary ...

the fog of the last couple weeks is lifting -- I'm willing it to leave ...

one of my daily tasks is to read the obits -- I have all the local funeral homes saved as favorites -- I know I need to get a new life ...

I read about an accident over the weekend and in the fog never realized it was Mary.   or as I used to tease her at hysterical (historical) society board meetings ... Mary Mary -- we had a couple of Mary's on the Board at the same time.  she'd laugh and smile ... "yes, it's me ---  Marie Marie"

Mary -- teacher, gardner, wife, generous heart and soul.  I've prepared their tax return forever, or so it seems -- I have daylilies and hostas from her garden in my garden.

Mary, you will be missed -- your garden and it's beauty will be around for generations -- I will smile and think of you every time I split and share your daylilies   .... thank you for sharing them with me -- I will pass them on ....

life on daisy lane via "critter cam"

219 pictures of the barn cats on the critter cam -- and 5 pictures of an opossum ....
hmm the buggers eat, drink and be merry all night long

elder #1 moved the camera to a new location ...

and this bugger came for supper

day at the lake today -- first it was a bakery stop, a library stop, a grocery store stop and finally got there ... dang .. I spent the day flipping mug rugs, strip piecing part of a jelly roll, chain piecing 5 inch squares -- and cleaning off the deck ...

back tomorrow ... for some nap time ...

oh frack

life with the spinning seemed to be under control .. i stopped taking the meds on Wednesday and I thought was doing pretty good  ... and then ....

got ready this morning to head to the Government Center for a meeting -- realized I forgot something and spun around and hopped out of the truck ... and oops ... a bit of spinning ...

I came back from said meeting and took the effing meds.

Next meeting is in Gaylord -- thankfully I have a ride ...

my chant of the morning has been "this will not happen, this will not happen" ... on and on and on

4.5 days of spinning

actually I had a speech with myself on Friday afternoon -- enough of this crap.  So I put together a shelf unit for my bedroom -- moved out the old and moved in the new --- with a lot of vacuum time in between ....

Saturday morning I went to the cabin -- drove myself -- all 11 miles ... by myself ... nary a problem ... I sat on the deck and turned this pile into

these potholders -- man are they putzy ... turning and slip stitching shut -- next time I'm going to bind them (and make them square) ... what the heck ...

There was a nap in there too ... and Saturday night I moved my bed and spent considerable time with the vacuum cleaner (noticing a trend??  it's been on my project list) ... well I slept like crap ... and this morning I felt like crap

so today I laid low ... laundry, dishes, watered the flowers (home and office) and napped ... between the dust and the vertigo ... my head was a mess this morning.  At 1:30 I took drugs and stretched out ... zonked out ...

now it's work projects and a walk. .... I'm not going to let it bother me I'm taking a freaking walk.  Tomorrow is a new day and a new week -- enough -- learning to adapt.

(and tomorrow I'll be back to whining and feeling sorry for self -- I know the drill) ...

2.5 days post spinning

a bit more spinning this morning -- before drugs ... not bad .... could have been worse (was worse) ... woo heee to getting into see the "regular" doctor has been entertaining --- if they call and change the appointment again this morning -- there will be a conversation .....

peeps -- this is some weird shit.  walking is odd -- I'm going to get a walking stick and take a stroll tonight and see how that goes ... I need to move.  wearing my glasses seems to make it worse -- and life without the glasses is really fuzzy.  I'm only using one computer monitor and that seems to be okay ...

life goes on  ---- my motto of the day is "suck it up buttercup - it could be worse"

the world was spinning

vertigo -- makes the world spin while standing still -- and man was it spinning ... oooo weeee iiiii

I had it this morning (on my way to Patrick's to pick up my lunch) ... landed on the sidewalk (in a dress) ... a lady across the street seen me go down and was kind, caring and gracious enough to assist me -- I never did get her name ...

She went in and got Mrs. H .... -- both of them got me in a chair .... things were looking pretty stable and I sent Mrs. H home ... she called Jean ...

Jean took me to the emergency room -- 3 hours later -- I'm a healthy overweight almost old woman with vertigo ...

don't drive
don't climb ladders
be careful
don't bend over
no fast side to side movements

see your regular doctor soon

the lab techs -- were challenged -- I  don't bleed well -- not well at all .... took hot packs and a few sticks to get a spot of blood ...... to be fair I was dehydrated....

onward -- this too shall pass ....

and soon -- I've got too much to do ...

target ....

oh Target -- how do I love thee -- let me count the ways.

whoa .... one hour and $200 later ....
it's a good thing I only go there once a year ...

... more sheer curtains (and rods)
... new trash cans
... lots of toilet paper and paper towels
... light bulbs
... cheap notebooks (gotta love back to school)
... veggie straws
... Hersey's choc drops for Mom
... gum
... dish soap
... toilet bowl cleaner
... soft scrub
... toothpaste
... q tips
...  and more absolutely necessary items that I cannot remember ...

I had a really full cart --  and it filled up the backseat of my truck ....

then I went to office maxx ... -- restraint kicked in and the list was extremely short -- compressed air for the long arm and colored copy paper ....

in addition to my Target expedition there was a spot of sewing (including some long arming) and a bridal shower for Brittany, cousin JD's bride to be  .....

this picture showed up on my facebook memory feed this morning ... argh .. more patch memories ...

Wisdom

I snagged this from an obit for a little one -- words of wisdom ...

Above all else, here are a few suggestions to celebrate Andrew's life: hug your mom, greet your neighbor with exuberance, pet a puppy, dance while singing a Beatles song in the middle of a crowded airport terminal, take detailed meeting minutes, craft a to-do-list, debate politics or ruminate on the meaning of life, play trucks or superheroes, go camping but audibly express your distaste for tents, release a trapped insect to the outdoors, insist on shutting off your car's GPS and providing impromptu directions or just laugh… all things Andrew did and took great pride in doing.

Wednesday's on Third

I'm still at work -- at 5:58pm and not leaving soon ...

   Monday night was 8:30
   Last night was 7:00 ish

Tonight promises to be 7:00ish ...

I have an odd County schedule this week and I want to get everything ... and I mean everything this joint has in a "to do" pile -- DONE -- before Friday ...

I'm not going to get it all done -- but there will be a significant dent in the piles.

I did take time to sew last night --- the first batch of potholders got whipped up ... ready for some hand work ... I then proceeded to piece batting scraps together to make more stuffing ... and laid out 10 more potholders -- I got up at first light (literally) and finished quilting them while the washing machine was washing away ....

I might attempt to load the long arm and actually quilt something larger than a potholder.  ....  skills, peeps, I have skills (and tools)

Monday's on Third

so the post title sounds like a soap opera  ... sorry not that exciting ....

my week of crazyness has begun ... started with a public hearing on a ditch re-determination -- expensive stuff if you live on the ditch ...

back to the office for 2 hours of wacky customers (it is Monday) ... then off to Delores Holteen's funeral ... it was a really nice service -- smiles, laughter and tears -- a good send off ...  I hadn't been to a funeral at her church for a while -- I kind of enjoyed their new pastor --

dashed home -- Mom needed bottled Italian dressing for the pasta/veggie salad -- who wouldn't dash home for fresh pasta/veggie salad ... and now back to the office to work on a few many projects

... tomorrow's rat race is a mere 15 hours away ...

weekend wheels

so I told Nick a while back to sell my weekend wheels
well today they went to a new home

since the garden is no more -- they seemed like an expensive garbage hauler
cruising to the trash and cruising the crp seemed to be the only miles
in the last 18 months ...

probably will get replaced  -- maybe not so fancy .. or so new
most peeps purchase cars for less money ...

kind of miss her -- tonight would have been a nice night for a ride ...
o.......

the tailgate made for a nice dining table ...
tasty treats

the day she came to Daisy Lane

and the first load of watermelons ...

I'm getting sad of a freaking ATV ... I must need an attitude adjustment break ...
ha -- more laundry!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Brown Truck!

It was clean the day I picked it up ....
Took a week or two to figure out how to open the back window....

It hasn't been clean since day 1 ... dang Kodiak Brown is dirty brown
Who knew how fast I'd adjust the heated and cooled seats? ..
Leather is nice too
Surround Sound -- Navigation -- spiffy connections to my phone

Nor has it ever functioned as a quilt rack -- the old red truck was a good truck -- a few miles, pushed a lot of snow, hauled a lot of watermelons, got me to work ... I'm sure she's well loved at her new home ... an old (89) guy bought her ..

Lists, the endless lists

So, I'm a list making Diva ... lots of lists, endless lists -- what to do, what got done, what not to do ... the whole drill.  Friday morning I sat down and typed a list for the weekend and this holiday week ... so far -- it's been a dud.

1.   I've spent a lot of time at the cabin -- non productive time ... well --  call cousin Gayle was on the list -- I did that!  I was supposed to be cleaning and sewing while out there -- not napping, cruising and more napping .  I laid down on the couch yesterday, set my phone alarm and slept right thru it and the Veteran's Program in the Park.  I must have needed the nap.

2.  Tonight in 88' weather I've managed to vacuum out my truck and install the new weathertech floor liners -- at least the front ones --need to trim the back to fit -- Nick!  Since the vacuum was out --- I sucked out Ruby (trunk too) and Mom's wheels.  An hour of outdoor vacuuming -- 88'....

3.  I delivered Great Aunt Luz's geneology tub of stuff to Aunt Nancy -- it's her mess now.

4.  Laundry -- it's running.

5.  Saturday I got fed up with the dehumidifier -- bought a new one -- it's humming along.

6.  Most of my client quarterly payroll reports have been completed and taxes paid --

7.  Had coffee and treats with a high school classmate -- she lives in Florida -- home visiting her mom for a couple of weeks.

Time for a shower and some a/c.  Best be turning it on .. it's still hot and I'm sweating profusely ... must have been the vac job!  I might work up the energy to attack the porch .... might.

weekend at the cabin

the lake is high ... the no-wake restrictions were lifted on Saturday ...
but no one was out on the lake (or very few)

After the rain cleared Saturday, Lee took us for a slow cruise -- we just idled the entire lake ...
kind of like the SS Minnow -- but we made it back to shore in time for more skeeters and ice cream!

the entrance to "Dolly's Hole" ... evidently our little bay is named "Dolly's Hole" ... the boathouse / shore is our landlords and M does a really nice job of landscaping ... she works hard at it ...

very green at our dock ...

and looking out the cut into the main lake

My goal was to spend the entire week out at the cabin -- (and commute into the office) well, plans have changed ... I did spend most of the weekend out there -- rain and all.... bugs and alll
skeeters are horrendous ...

Will dash out tomorrow to clean (we need to clean -- ) and then head out Tuesday for the holiday .... well see how to weather and work load shakes out ....
