rule #1 ....

if you really like it -- buy it and buy lots of it.

so far all I've found for sale is a fat quarter in Australia .... yep, the land down under.   I've found it in other color ways .... but I like the green!!!

I violated rule #1 when I bought this and only got a yard .... dang.

just got to share

remember me, the idiot, who supposedly doesn't work after 1:00pm -- trust me, I'm still at work at 5:30  ---  argh.

below is the project of the week (weekend) ... I strip pieced the two crib/baby quilts ... baby due soon ... parents don't know (or aren't telling me) the sex of the baby!  so I made a boy version  .....

sorry it's kinda fuzzy

aren't the sheep adorable

and green John Deere tractors ... it's going to a house of green

and next up is the girl version!

pink John Deere's

and more sheep!

I quilted both tops on the long arm on Monday ... one before work and one last night -- getting the hang of that thing!  blow out the fuzzies, slow easy movements and new needles!   good quality thread helps too!

Anyway -- binding is next.  And the BABY !!!!

Happy Tuesday from a grumpy late working Diva.

ahhh rain

I awoke to the lovely pitter patter of RAIN.  Thank you!  Every tiny drop is much appreciated.

I could hear the squash go ahhhhhhhh.   Yep, it was that dry around here.  So, now that it rained there will be a bit more work -- more cukes to pick, cantaloupe will ripen and watermelon will grow faster!

I managed to piece two baby quilt tops yesterday, spray some weeds and dust for bugs, pick cucumbers, laundry, plan out another quilt.  Finish up 6 winter crochet scarves (put on the fringe) .. dishes, garbage .... and it really didn't feel like I was that busy --- and I slept in .... didn't get out of bed at 5:00am.....

 Happy Week!

Weekend Warrior (s)

another farm relic -- headed to the scrap heap.  Spent an hour assisting #1 dig this hunk of junk out of the grove ... it's the ultimate recycling project .. It's been sitting back there since the early 80's ... it originally came from the City of Minneapolis ... converted to a grain truck from a snow plow truck ... top speed 50 mph .. but the tortoise always wins the race.

I'm not sure why I get stuck assisting with these projects.  It wasn't fun at age 12 and 40 years later it still isn't fun -- it had trees growing thru it.  Simply amazing all the tires still had air in 'em.

squash ....

cantaloupe ... surrounded by weeds and corn

rock climbing, camera shy barn kitten ...

the fruits of my labor ... I know, cheesy .. unfortunately I think they'll all be ripe at once.

hoping for rain today ... need it bad and soon.
rain dancing to begin shortly

another productive night at the sewing machine

I think I made this top more than 10 years ago.  I had a whole tub of tops waiting to be quilted and I've been working my way thru them since the purchase of the long-arm.  This is crib sized ... batiks .. quilted, bound, washed and dried.

and the back ... I love the large scale floral ... it hides the quilting spiffs.

my project from July's 2nd Friday at the Scrap Shack .. a 5" wide jelly roll of kaffe fassett strips ... it didn't look very good after piecing, but quilting seemed to pull it all together.  It's quilted in brown thread ... not sure why, but it looks a lot better now that it's finished.  I'm not sure why I bought this bundle of fabric -- it's not really my color/style/favorite !

Edgar, from the cat shack.  He thought he should walk on the quilt ... mind you -- we can't pet him but he's still a pest.  He got into the traps twice this week ... almost as many times as the skunks.

I was going to market this morning with my pail of zucchini, basket of cucumbers and one cantaloupe -- but I've decided to skip it.  Busy week at the office and the County next week so off to the office for some more projects and yard work there.

I started another blog -- just for my self.  I'm sorting thru my quilt pictures and going to sort/post/etc.  Then go off and have it printed.  At least that was the plan last night -- may change over time!

Happy Weekend!

flexible diva

bessie, my trust early morning, night and weekend wheels ... already has 190 miles on her and I've only left the farm to drop of trash at the shop and get the mail .... that's a lot of back and forth to the patch peeps.

Well Thursday -- someone need parts off of her and I've been reduced to driving

this hunk of junk (can't complain -- it runs) to the patch.  a retired GAC security vehicle that elder #1 bought for $300 and then stuck a new motor in it ....  roof leaks, check engine light never goes off --- but the air conditioning works and it gets fabulous mileage ... I'd never go more than 35 mph in it ... it's a small heap.

aren't the pumpkins cool ... the vine out and take over everything --- even the weeds.  not many plants here just a few -- mainly specialties and fun ones.

a buttercup squash ... a "sweet mama" to be exact -- thick meaty orange flesh ... looking fabulous.  I can't seem to find any butternuts ... I have the sinking feeling I forgot to plant them or mixed up the seed packages .... it's the year of the "what the hell's" ... just gotta roll with it.

and my poor looking row of zinna's .... amid the weeds.

ahhh

  the dentist .....

the needles, the drilling, the sanding, the attempting to answer questions with multiple instruments and gizmos inside my mouth -- and oh ... I'm really really jumpy with that damn drill running (inside my mouth) ...

two filings.  one medium, one small -- 45 minutes and I really shouldn't complain, Dr. Z takes extra good care of me.  Dang that kid is way to young to be a dentist.  Nice kid though!

so now, my lip, chin and tongue are still numb.  trying a hot tea to speed up the wearing off of the Novocaine.

   patience, patience, patience.
