Stuck on frogs this summer .. this on is delightful

Spent a good part of the day with family -- Joy's funeral was today -- I wasn't in the mood for a funeral but it was a lovely service with a lot, a lot of music.  It was good for me to go ...

the out of state cousins met for supper at Kavo .. the "been around a year and I haven't ate there yet" restaurant downtown .. I had the butternut squash ravioli -- damn tasty .... leftovers for lunch ... butternut squash ravioli, brussel sprout chips, toasted walnuts, brown butter and grated fresh parm ... damn tasty :)   the out of state visiting family members met for supper 2 from Denver, 2 from Seattle, one from up north and a few of the locals -- 

Mom didn't attend the funeral -- but I got her to supper instead -- the church isn't really friendly for those with mobility challenges .. 

 

Happy Hump Day

the pix I am currently using as a background on my office desk -- desktop -- there's something about clouds, water, blue sky, green lake .. and this one was late August so there's a hint of fall in the air.

Got up before the birds again this morning -- started a load of laundry, got my self woke up with a shower, breakfast and the morning newspaper before heading into the office ..  arrived on 3rd with determination? project lists ?  ..  before I even entered the building -- I attacked the tree growing in the fence with my "personal" chainsaw .. there's a pile for the yard waste dump.  a pile.  more to go but it's a start -- some projects are better completed without the village watching the action ... 

I did manage to score a haircut yesterday -- Lori the scissor wizard to the rescue ... I went home and then came back to the office for a large payroll project that always needs attention to finish up .. it was a good thing.

not sure what today's drama will be ... but something will happen .....

summer weekends

just a Saturday afternoon of inputting data for MNPR's .. we still don't have the "good to go" message from software geeks .. but I'm adding info and making lists

Mom and I went to the lake in the morning and by late afternoon we decided to spend the night -- I had spaghetti sauce in the crock pot warming up and she had cleaned the sweet corn be bought on the way out there --- so we dashed home to feed the barn cats and get her drugs and back to the lake we went

it was a beautiful night at the lake -- I sat in my porch chair and enjoyed every second of the sunset -- it was awesome .. pic's are on my phone

I actually got a lot done .. more than I expected the internet got flaky -- not sure if it is the internet or our router -- which ever it jerks my chain every single weekend .. 

might have shared this beauty before .. I still like it ..

it's been that kind of morning ... actually last night was pretty productive as well ... I did just pop out to the porch fridge to retrieve milk .. ugh she's a sticky mess outside already -- thru this entire heat spell we really haven't had a lot of "wind" to shake things up ... 

it's been a crazy county week so nothing is getting done - anywhere ... hence the early start ... late yesterday the City requested residents to cut back on power usage so I didn't start laundry or the dishwasher ... I fed cats and actually mowed a pretty good chunk of lawn.

I was a bit surprised -- it wasn't too hot or buggy.  grateful for the lack of "bugs" -- seriously, it's July and I don't think I've used bug spray yet -- we're lucky .. 

so last night, I fed cats and watered the trees --- then washed the cat pee ... yep,  cat pee --  off the SxS -- hopped on the lawn mower to give it a bath as well - and decided to mow instead -- at 8:30 it was getting tough to see ( and glasses were left at office --- so ... ) ....

rambling old woman at 5:00 am is not a good thing .. off for coffee and the newspapers.

Monday ...

absolute truth -- the best description of every Monday morning .. I try, really I try to keep Monday's tolerable -- today's was exhausting 

County gig most of the day -- Union Negotiation prep,  negotiations and during a 2 1/2 hour caucus I slipped out to the 1W1Plan gig and got elected chair.   

... and we're still negotiating ... it's a process of give and take and patience 

I just don't have patience any longer

it's been a rough start to the weekend ..

Thursday night I mowed -- and butchered the lawn .. too wet too tall too much of everything
Friday night I tried to finish with I didn't get done Thursday -- raised the deck and slowed down

Weed whipped until the battery died

Watered the new trees

Today ...
1.  I went to the office and chopped burdocks before they went to seed .. 2 pickup loads of weeds await delivery to the compost pile .. burdocks chopped .. gas meter uncovered
2.  Came home to finish mowing all the "un-mowed" spots
3.  Watered the trees again  - they are looking good
4.  Mowed the spots that had clumps of grass clippings -- re-mowed-- different direction
5.  weed whipped until the battery died
6.  ordered stuff from Mom .. Kohls carries lands end and 40% discount is a steal

and somewhere in this binge I was informed I don't get enough done.  I was not a pleasant person.  I'm doing the best I can ... Frankly, I don't have 10 hours a week to mow and weed whip .. and when I do have time it is at night .. 

Friday was the 2nd time since April 15th that I left the office early -- and early was 4:00pm  I did manage to have a productive busy week at the office .. the upcoming week is loaded with County gigs so life might be a bit bumpy ..

I'm showered, tired and a bit of sunburn -- still grumpy .. deciding if I should go to work -- 7/15 deadline is approaching quickly .. and I have projects all over my desk ..

 

dusting diva

   my fix-it skills are someday going to be the stuff of legends.  Today, after listening to the fan on my desktop computer literally "whoosh" several times -- it was time.

    take that baby apart and dust it with compressed air and suck up the dust bunnies with the dust buster -- I will not admit how bad it was -- but it was bad ... I then moved on to the computer in the front room, the green room and am working up the nerve to attack the server ... might need to leave that to a professional.  

     I also purged six storage boxes of "stuff" from the server closet and the basement -- yes, scanned and saved and now headed for the shredding landfill.  I'm not on a roll -- it's the hot and sticky weather -- indoor projects.  a good thing.  I think.

    Next on the list -- the dehumidfier in the basement at the farm is on the way to recycling.  Menards here I come.  again.
