my field of dreams ... (warning picture heavy) ...

    So I had an attitude adjustment moment and took the atv for a ride to the patch ... just to hang out -- well, it was me and the Monarch butterflies ... lots of butterflies.  So I took pictures (burned thru 3 sets of camera batteries) and I shot a couple of video's (hence the battery issue) and had a good time.  They (we) love the zinnias.  Who doesn't love zinnias? 

    The sunflowers aren't too bad either!  Ignore the weeds. 

   I've been better at storing / sorting / saving my pictures lately -- all are now downloaded to my home computer and backed up regularly.  So when I upload these -- it's usually a couple of days a head of time ... need to put them on a zip drive and get them printed up ...

   6 days until the neighborhood invasion.

it was a spectacular day eh!

 

me and my wares made it to the farmers market yesterday (Saturday morning) ... I sold most of them ... I thought we really didn't have many customers ... time will tell, I won't be there often.  I don't have much.

 

 

the sunrises and sunsets have been gorgeous ... this is sunrise from the driveway on Friday morning ...

 

 

the countdown is on ... it is list making and project accomplishment weekend.

 

Today's List

 

1.  Shopko -- paper products, etc

2.  Toss out the dead flower pots

3.  Wash the house (rather hose down the house)
        number #1 had a fit and wouldn't allow it ...
        thought the kid and the power washer was a good idea

4.  Laundry

5.  Vac out the Mustang (hate that black interior)

6.  Bind the hospice quilt.

7.  Bind the baby batik quilt (it's fabulous too)

8.  Finish the office project nightmare. (not so fabulous)
       not totally done but a could start found the missing $1,000,000
       yes that is the correct number of zero's

9.  Read time -- new library books.

 

we have 6 days until the block party -- the preparations continue.

the birds are thawing.

Let the pickin' begin

 

the first load of picking ... not a bad load peeps

 

after picking the above  -- I had to ...

 

1) open the box cover on the truck (it had attitude)

2) sweep out the truck box .... it had the remains of a

dried carnival squash in it from last fall....yuck.

3) unload the atv and sort by size

4) get a beverage

 

then I hopped on the atv to have a pleasure cruise and the sunset and storm front were moving in .... no rain ... just darkness and the wind switched to the north and we dropped 20' immediately

 

fall blew it -- overnight

cool weather will make things mature faster

(including me -- insert grin)

Soul Blossoms ...

I finally got back into the sewing mood ... and it's finish up projects ... I had this mini jelly roll of Amy Butler's "soul blossoms" ... it is bold and beautiful and zipped up into a nice crib/toddler quilt ... used 6 of the strips for the binding -- which I struggled with ... should have pressed it open better ...

 

 

I moved the foliage to the front "stoop" to mow and left 'em there to hide the ugly stoop ... kinda messes up my picture taking "rack" .. I planted "cheep" rose bushes in tubs .. $10 a tub and lots of summer color ...

 

 

 

 

the market picking starts tonight -- lets hope I find some tasty goodness out there ... 1st market of the season for me ....

Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday, the new Monday

  Holy shit -- I should have know today was going to be chaos ... the end of summer/Labor Day holiday throws all idiots (including me) into a frenzied tizzy. 

  Relax peeps -- it's only Tuesday.

  Long week ahead -- starting the software conversion ... by the time we're done I'll be nuts.  Just saying so.

 
  So to combat the stress of idiots and software I started a project last night ... I had chopped up my scrap bin during girls weekend in January ... I had 5" hunks of raspberry batiks .. it's a gorgeous crib quilt.  which I think I'm going to quilt on the bernina instead of the long arm. 

  I spent an hour cleaning the fuzzies out of the bernina .. it sounds better!!!!


  onward march ... after all it's only Tuesday!!!

Labor Day ...

 

the road to no where ... post rain .. wonderful blue sky today

corn is changing with the season .. (more likely changing with the lack of rain) .. ears are tipping downward and it is starting to dry up ..

 

me thinks this is going to be a tasty bugger ... already over 20 lbs

 

everything -- especially the weeds liked the weekend of rain 1.5 inches in our gauge ...

 

 

one of 6, yep 6 total pumpkins.

 

 

love the squash vines -- they run everywhere and stand tall and proud after the rain .. amid the weeds...

 

and the sunflowers ... getting taller by the hour ... as are the weeds (note the weed theme)

 

 

so it was Labor Day -- while the rest of this village enjoyed the beautiful day ... I went to work ... no phones - no interruptions and actually got a lot done ... including mowing 1/2 the lawn ... the balance tomorrow... quack grass is coming on thick ... time for some chemicals.
