the 5th Season has arrived

   CONSTRUCTION ....

noisy, dirty, smelly, noisy ... traffic issues ... evidently now that our 2nd day of spring has arrived so has the sidewalk crew -- they're working up the street ... down the street (on the next block) ..

feet are tired this morning.   many trips from the front of the church to the kitchen to stir the cooking hot dish.  brought leftovers for lunch.

while waiting for morning laundry I started quilting on the latest project.  I'm the straight line quilter so don't expect any swirls.

so, we did it

pulled off funeral hotdish for 150.   touch and go for a couple of minutes, didn't think the last batch was going to be done on time.

many thanks to the kitchen crew at FLC, cousin Gayle for stirring while we were at the service, Swede for getting the roasters to the table without dropping them!

Sunday on Daisy Lane

the patch "acreage" awaits me ... pretty wet looking yet
north view .. and the neighbors barn

the equipment has been sitting for a week .. to wet to go ...

 the big green one ...
the planter ... folds up to roll down the road a bit better

2" pre-cut mini charm packs ... oh so much fun

yep, they become even smaller pieces.

We started our cooking event this morning -- funeral hot dish for 150 ... did one batch and got the ingredients for the others ready.  pretty darn tasty ..

dreary March day

  oh crap it's May -- I forgot.

so on a dreary day what's an overbooked hard working Diva to do.  I came to the office and I'm knocking out the projects.  Busy busy week ahead so the more that I get down now .... the less crabby I'll be later.

Jean and I volunteered to make Vatican Funeral Hotdish for a funeral on Monday ... so tomorrow is devoted to chopping celery & onions, browning 25lbs of hamburger and a test run of one 50 serving batch.  The Church of Saint Peter's Hotdish is the stuff of legends.  Enough said.

I'm guessing there may be a bit of crafting happening too.  Lots of bonding.  In case you need to make Vatican Hotdish for 50 ...

8 lbs of browned hamburger
1 package frozen pearl onions
2 bunchs of chopped celery
8 small cans of cream of mushroom soup
8 small cans of chicken rice soup
8 cups of water
16 ounces of soy sauce
2 lbs of rice

stir it all together and bake at 350 for 2 + hours.

hummmmm

t g i f

although I'm still in "backload" mode so Friday's don't have much meaning -- hoping to not be here on Sunday so a couple of busy days ahead.  the "catch-up" game can get me cranky/crabby/stressed out.

3 treks to the pool this week - finally had the heaters turned on last night and my teeth weren't chattering from the cold for the entire hour.  it was pretty toasty (and nice) last night ... 3 nights -- 5 hours of missing work time ... see paragraph #1.

next week promises to be equally crazy.  really looking forward to July and the vacation.

 Diva ....

ps.  family members who read this, we lost Dick (Joanne's husband) yesterday .. no arrangements or details yet.  84.  kind of puts all the work etc (see paragraph #1) into perspective -- time for some quality family bonding!

I'm not shoveling -- the peeps will have to slog thru it.
