Wordless Wednesday (on Tuesday)

ah .... progress

  there are no pictures yet ... but progress was made attacking the weeds, brush and trees growing on 3rd street ...

  the flower beds have been cleaned out
  all of the trees growing along the fence, in the fence, on the fence, leaning over the fence
       have been removed
  and I have a path to thru the weed jungle to the electrical meters --
       hippy dippy trippy next door is in charge of the back 40 and it isn't getting done
       so I made a path for the meter reader.
       more to come on that project

  Nick and Dad helped - a lot.

  
  needless to say by the time I finally got to the cabin -- on Sunday morning -- just about every muscle ached .. 5 pickup loads to the City brush/weed pile.  a lot of crap.

  I earned my lake time.  spent most of it sewing -- 4 more dresses done and I finished season 6 of downton abbey. 
 

  this weeks projects -- a plugged shower in the upstairs apartment (oh joy) and the electrician.  might as well spend it all in one week eh!

  4 more dresses are cut out and ready to stitch -- 4 quilts need to be bound.

and I ran out of ROUND UP!




cool, still, damp -- best time to kill weeds and no juice.
Shopko had it on sale yesterday and I resisted the urge to purchase it
I'll be back this morning.


2nd flower bed at the office was de-foliated -- gotta love trees growing in flower beds ... they will receive an extra special Roundup cocktail.  undiluted -- painted on with a paint brush (best control)


so today ...
it's cut trees out of the fence at the office and attempt to make a path to the meter -- the meter reader has a difficult time thru the 5' tall weeds -- which hippy dippy trippy was supposed to remove.  famous last words from the idiot next door.  (not that I am a bit peeved -- understatement of the century)



 

this week's accomplishments

pretty slim pickin's here on 3rd Street and on Daisy Lane ...

It's rained -- it's been windy.

1.  The office lawn got mowed.
2.  I chopped down some more weeds -- many more to go.
3.  I turned vines in the melon patch and found a watermelon.
4.  I did a lot (a LOT) of payroll.

More importantly ... what I HAVEN'T done this week.

1.  Walk (other than gardening)
2.  Spend any time at the lake
3.  Spend any time at the Bernina
4.  Clear off my desk.


I really hate dislike short holiday weeks -- I fall behind and never seem to catch up.


((( big sigh/whine)))  and back at it.

A good Diva would have documented her holiday much better than pictures of a dog.  Alas, the previous post with the dog shots were just about all the photography of the weekend.

Yesterday, THE HOLIDAY

.... I went to the office at the normal 6:00am start time and finished up a couple of payrolls -- payroll is a schedule thing -- and doesn't care if it's a holiday ...

.... I then headed to my appointed shift in the PARK for the PARTY  where
.... I damn near got run down in the fun run...
.... I ended up helping set up the food booth
.... and mixing up 4 roasters (that would be 16 + gallons) of baked beans. ..... that's a lot of can opener action ... hand crank can opener ....
.... I finally arrived at my appointed location "the bank" where I handed out start up cash ... to
     4 water carts
     1 beer tent
     1 pop stand
     4 chicken dinner lines
     1 hot dog stand
     and somewhere else I can't remember
.... finally left 2 hours after my scheduled exit time.

Finally got to the lake ..... no sewing or crochet (forgot the hook and lost the desire).
I was cold, tired cranky all afternoon .... the boat parade was entertaining ....
Food was good.


By the time 8:00 pm  rolled around I was too freeking tired and too cranky to be polite -- so I went home (the plan was to stay over), took a shower and went to bed.

and this morning the whole gig started over at 5:15

I finally got to the patch today after the office  -- it needs a drink, a deep wet drink.  Soon.

Enough with the whining -- me and my tote bag of homework are going to work ....

Happy 2nd month of summer!







 

ah ... it's the life of a dog. . . .

 

stole this off a friends facebook page ... it's the entrance to the bay/cove/hole ... that's our dock on the right ....beautiful day/night at the lake yesterday ...

 

 

this unit was a head of me at the stop light on Saturday -- after sitting at the market for 4 hours I found it amusing ...

 

 

jake is a pampered pooch.  he just couldn't seem to settle down yesterday until Jean brought his bed out to the deck ... then it was snap at flies and bugs all afternoon

 

 

I'm up and off to work at the park for the "party" my shift should be over by 10:00 and then it's back to the lake ..... after a payroll .... 'tis good to be me.

did 5 hours of Farmer's Market ...

sold some stuff ....

 

Dusted the squash ...

got the paper

 

and now it is time for my second shower of the day ...

bug dust needs to be showered off ....

 

and then .... maybe then .... it's a little lake time!
